Recommended Posts

hi,

i have to setup my pc to a new installation and want to move my settings from the old machine to the new one.

is it possible to copy the folder:

c:\Users\blacky\AppData\Roaming\BitTorrent Sync\

to the new pc and start bittorrent sync??

or is this a problem to get my program work on teh new pc ??

or is there another way to save and restore settings ??

Blacky,

It should work, but you should keep in mind few things:

1. It must be the same platform, cross-platform settings copy won't work.

2. Your paths must be completely same on new PC.

3. The old instance of BTSync should never run, as your computer ID is stored in settings and must be unique.

Hi RomanZ,

Thanks for this quick answer!

i forgot to follow the topic, so i did not recognize earlier ;-)

as the id has to be unique it does only make sense when a pc is deleted and setup new with the same drives and paths!

all other cases will do some confusion in syncing and have to be configured new!

right so far ??

@Blacky,

That's right. This way is applicable only on full migration and old computer should not be working anymore. If you just want to duplicate settings, this way is going to cause really nasty issues, hard to identify and debug.
