xxERICxx
Hi Folks. Two macs, a Mac Pro and an iMac, both (were) running BitTorrent Sync (Sorry I do not remember the version, BUT I just downloaded from the BT site a week ago, so I assume current) hang at shutdown until I press and hold the power button. There is no information in the system log about this... and I can't even say 100% it is BT's issue, however once I uninstalled BTS they shutdown as usual. Any Mac users see this? BTW, BTS is an amazing piece of software that nobody else seems to be able to figure out how to do correctly! So thanks for that! :-) Here are quick sys. specs: Mac Pro4x2.8Ghz20 GB Ram250GB SSDMavericks Server 10.9.3 iMac2x3.2GHz8 GB Ram120GB SSDMavericks 10.9.3 Thanks in advance! RomanZ
@xxERICxx It might happen that BTSync asked you a confirmation to close the app and prevented rebooting? If yes, it's a but - which can be easily workarounded, though: just try to close an app once (click it in the system tray, choose "Quick btsync" and check the checkbox "never show it again". crittle1
This happens to me as well. I never had this issue, and I'm only assuming it's BTS as that's the only thing I've installed. For me, I use Mavericks server 10.9.3. I know MySQL doesn't belong on this forum, but I want to tell you what happened as I think xxEricxx may be onto something. About a week after install, MYSQL crashes. I am not using BTS with MySQL at all. I'm just sycing an external hard drive to another location remotly. So I reboot, having to force the reboot as it gets stuck at the shut down screen. All is well for another 157 hours. ( 6.5 days ) It's crashes again ( While I was on vacation mind you, lol ). I reboot having to force the reboot yet again during the grey screen as it stalls at the grey screen. This only started after installing BTS as I've been running smoothly for 9 months prior to that. I rebooted last week ( to try and avoid MySQL crashing incase it was a ram issue ) and I had to force the reboot again during the grey screen. I remember thinking how odd I had to do that even though the machine was running fine. Nothing is in the logs I can see that's unusual. With MySQL aside, I just wanted to throw this out there. Maybe it is a bug. 16GB Ram500 SSDMavericks Server 10.9.3 Edited July 16, 2014 by crittle1
Helen
@crittle1, Same guessing - do you have that confirmation windows in BitTorrent Sync enabled? It may block the PC from shutting down. As for MySQL crash, BitTorrent Sync doesn't interact with other apps unless they share the same directory, which is not your case. So in this case, I would recommend addressing to MySQL support for crash analysis.
