Use I enable copy key, and get a link that I paste into a browser on a different machine, which then tells me I have to install sync 1.4 on this machine, which I don't want to have sync on, in order to continue. It's XP, so I had to install firefox in order to even surf the configuration gui, which is annoying, although understandable. Why is this so much harder than it used to be? I just want the darn key. I don't have a problem with additional functionality, but why take away something that was easy-peasy? Is there some configuration file or registry key I can extract it from? Why should I trust this https://link.getsync.com/#f=blahblah... to not log or abuse this data? Is there some transformation I can run this link through to get the keys? Sync has been a great tool for us, and I love it, but this kind of change is just complicating my life, and it makes me cranky. Thanks for any help. You don't need to extract keys or something like that. Just click on the three dots next to your folder, then preferences and there "View key" There is already a thread open with your second question "Why should I trust ..." here http://forum.bittorrent.com/topic/31373-why-should-i-trust-linkgetsynccom/You can always check the "peer I invite must be approved by this device" option. capi Posted September 20, 2014 Report Share Posted September 20, 2014 Also, you can actually copy/paste the link into the "Enter a key" form, without going through the browser. This way it really works like the old "one-time" passwords, with the additional advantage of peer verification via certificate and a required approval of the new peer.
