Raspberry Pi Install Guide For 2.0

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I have scoured the interwebs but I have not been able to find a working guide to get 2.0 up and running on a pi (and my own attempts have not been successful) Has anyone had success that they would be willing to share in a step by step?

I am also curious about the changes in the config between 1.4 and 2.0.  In 1.4 I had to configure btsync to run as user "me" so that the file permissions would work. Has this changed? Also, is it possible to run btsync for mutiple users on the pi?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I followed the instructions at https://melgrubb.wordpress.com/2014/08/03/raspberry-pi-home-server-part-14-bittorrent-sync/ and, while they are not marked as specifically 2.0, they worked flawlessly.

Note that to configure certain options that are not available from the web-based gui, you need to re-run dpkg-reconfigure btsync. This is mentioned in the instructions but I overlooked it. Although the dpkg-reconfigure GUI refers to 'default settings', it's my understanding that any change you make will apply to existing folders. For example if you create a folder and then subsequently change the archiving time through dpkg-reconfigure, the new time will be applied to the existing folder. Nevertheless, my advice would be to re-run dpkg-reconfigure once installation is complete, and set everything the way you want it, before creating any shared folders.

I have 1.4 up and running on my RPi. Should I uninstall it and install 2.0?

If you have installed btsync with the unofficial packages, run:

apt-get dist-upgrade

Thanks. I already had uninstalled it, and re-installed using the link provided by WilliamL, and it works flawlessly.
