DeathCom
I am currently setting up a sync between a number of friends. All have various builds and different hardware, all of them work just fine, except one. This system is a i7 6700K, 16GB RAM, running an ASUS wireless network card (AC), stores the sync folder to a USB external hard drive. It worked fine for a number of months but then after an update this past spring, it would start to sync new files, download at the expected speed, but then it would just lock up, mouse stops working and everything, system then needs to be manually reset. The system is completely stable otherwise. Youtube, netflix, BOINC, video editing, no issues on anything. But Sync will grind it to a halt and crash it every single time. I tried uninstalling sync, deleting the stored folder, and reinstalling with no luck. Sync will not crash the system unless it is actively syncing. If the folder is paused, no issues, or if there is nothing to sync its fine. Could this be a permission issue with an external drive? (the internal is a tiny SSD that can't hold this sync folder) The thing that gets me, it worked, for a long while, all the way back to when it this was still called bittorrentsync. TIA! DeathCom
This issue is now affecting another similar system. 6700K, with the same Asus Network card PCE-AC56. If I could wire these systems up to do a full test I would but it makes no sense. Both systems bluescreen after syncing for a few moments. This is extremely frustrating.
