Speed from seedbox to NAS slow until I restart Sync on NAS

I have current version of Sync running on a Feral seedbox and on my home NAS (Asustor) through a R7000 router.

Speeds will transfer in the neighborhood of 250 KB/s until I restart the Sync app on my NAS. Then I get 4-5 MB/s no problems, for a while, (not sure how long though.)

I have tried to give the local address for the NAS priority "quality of service" on the router but have seen no improvement. Charter is my carrier, and I am not aware of them throttling, and the fact that it goes at faster speeds upon restarts makes me think it's not Charter...

What do you think I can do to maintain the normal faster speeds?

(Happy to give more details to try to troubleshoot this!)

Thanks for any help,

J

Have you already seen suggestions form the Help center?
https://help.resilio.com/hc/en-us/articles/204762319-How-can-I-improve-data-transfer-sync-speed-

https://help.resilio.com/hc/en-us/articles/205450195-Download-upload-speed-is-very-slow

This behavior may indicate that the receiving side is not fast enough to process all the files that arrive, thus it suspends the transfer. Better send the debug logs from both peers to support.

  • 3 weeks later...

I experience the exact same issue with a Synology NAS DS1515+ with 16GB memory. i also run on feralhosting, and have static ip, i know reroute can help out some times, but my speed is stuck on 500kb-1MB and after a restart i reach 36MB/s and Max out the full speed of my internet connection.

on Synology its possible to setup a task schedule to restart the sync app, but would like to know the root cause of this.

i have set my NAS to static IP and forwarded the BT Sync ports, and made direct connection.

Maybe the issue can come from Feral changing ip or ports of the sync! so it loose direct connection, don't know where to troubleshoot further to find out what is causing this

I don't know where to determine if the connection is direct, and how the feralhosting has been setup for UPNP on the hardware site,

Yeah, well at least I'm not alone!

I have my Feral set up with a crontab to restart each day since it seems to crash on my slot pretty frequently. I also have static internal IP for my NAS and port opened and UPnP selected and no proxy server. It stays connected but gets slow. I look at the listening ports and those don't seem to change even with the daily restarts.

I was trying to find logs for the feral side but am not sure where they are so that I could submit them. If I find them and can get any help I'll definitely post back here to update...

I never restart my feral hosting Sync, its on my NAS i do it, from Feral hosting you should use the MC to make it easier to navigate at search for files, normally a folder called BTsync or Resillion is created and i think the logs are stored here! at first i thought my ISP was throttling. but the fix is just to restart the deamon

Yes i have tried everything at the two links, and was already something i did before i joined this forum. but we need to troubleshoot to find the exact cause instead of a link the describe how to set it up.

i have port forwarded, upnp, and check the settings, but no where it says anything about how it can be a restart solves the problem

I just found my log file on Feral, then i need to do some testing a reproduce the problem without the restart task

for information, the log is enabled first in Webgui config

and can be found here eos.feralhosting.com:/media/sdr1/home/USERNAME/.sync

i used SFTP from FAR Manager to access the server so i was able to see the hidden directories easily

Debug log mask has been set to 80000000 - logging is disabled. Please enable logging.
Loading sync.dat version 2.5.5, current version 2.5.5 - Please update to 2.5.10. All peers

There is instruction to collect logs:

1) enable logging
2) reproduce the problem, give sync some time to record logs (may be reproduce it a few times)
3) take logs (sync.log and all sync.log####.zip files) from <dir>

Thanks for the fast reply

i have fixed the log now so it writes

[11:36:24.478] Debug log mask has been set to FFFFFFFF
[11:36:24.479] Features mask has been set to 0

so now i will just wait until the speed goes down
