How do I install Sync on Linux Mint Cinnamon

I'm new to Linux.  So is there a guide for someone that doesn't have an understanding?

I have a file downloaded into the download folder, and all it does is open "Software Manager" and that's it. 

I've 'installed' other programs through the software manager.  Simple.  Easy.

But the terminal command lines (following Resilio's directions), I guess I'm not following correctly, probably because I don't have the 'understanding'.

Searched for online step by step instructions for beginners, but it seems like it's not there to find.  Search keywords or links appreciated.
