How To Recover Lost Username And Password Webgui On Linux

Hi,

Sadly, my btsync overwrote my password file with an older one, resulting in losing the newly created webgui username and password. Therefore I need to find a way on how to reset username and password on linux. Since I use only the webgui to configre btsync, I did not create (btsync did that for me) any .conf file. So, how can I reset the admin login?

Cheers,

Baiki

I stupidly lost my username & password as well. I wasn't paying attention when I was setting up the service.

I was able to recover my username and then I guessed my password.

To do this:

1) Open the unzip btsync folder (btsync_glibc23_x64) where are running the webui and application from

2) press control + h to show hidden files and folders

3) Open the .sync folder

4) Open the file 'Settings.dat' with a text editor

5) Search for the text 'username' to recover your username

You will not be able to recover your password this way.

But you could try and reset the entire application to be treated as a fresh install. I am only guessing this will work.

1) Stop the server (not sure how other than  a reset of your computer)

2) delete the folder .sync.

3) run the btsync app again

Hope it helps
