I am a very basic user, and not at all familiar with terms used by this community. I have a desktop and a laptop. Usually I create files and folders on the desktop and they instantly show up on the laptop. I am satisfied with that. But occasionally I create new files or update old ones on the laptop and they do not show up on the desktop. In fact, sometimes the newer files that I updated on the laptop, were reverted back to the olderfiles on the desktop when I got back home and turned on the desktop. If my folder is read only, how can I tell? The secrets are the same on both computers.

I am trying to sync my desktop with my laptop. Both of them have Windows 7. Before the new upgrade, the two computers were in sync with each other. If I changed a file, it would soon show up on the other computer. Then I updated BitTorrent Sync (current build is 1.1.42). It has been syncing files since then. I am looking at the history - sometimes it will show finished syncing file, and other times it shows "Failed to download - closed handles: cannot create a file that file already exists."
