We are currently using BTSync 1.3, but we will test tomorrow with version 1.4
We have a number of Synology devices at work and are lucky enough to have V1.3 for our production environment and V1.4 for our test environment.
Due to the criticality and remote location of our production devices, we've decided to wait until version 1.4 matures a little and will consider upgrading around Christmas time when we recall the devices for maintenance and upgrades, during the shutdown.
All devices are running DSM5 (latest update).
We are using
1x RS3614XS+
2x DS421+
All 3 devices are on the same network and part of a windows active directory.
Please let me know if there is any further information required? I will test version 1.4 first thing tomorrow morning and will let you know our findings.

why would you want thumbnails?
To add thumbnails would require additional CPU resources of scanning of files and most likely having to save thumbnails of every file somewhere else.

@tenjaa,
How are you planning on implementing this, i.e between NAS and NAS or just NAS to Users?
There is currently a very serious bug between NAS and NAS, where file permissions are not copied across on new files, a bug which .

our Synology App has updated to 1.4.82-7
Is the .82 an update just for the Synology app or is that a BTSync update? I cannot find any mention of this verison or any changelogs?

Thanks Hurik, working on my 1813+
-
Any feedback from BTSync secs on this issue would greatly be appreciated
-
Hurik, do you know for a list of Synology Devices that confirm which download applies?
-
I would also like to add we have exactly the same problem between two Synology devices
With the BTSync not correctly setting the file permissions on these files, its very much defeating the purpose of the software and means it cannot be used out of the box

Hi Roman,
I have reviewed the config file on a working NAS and can only see;
".url": { "com.synocommunity.packages.btsync": { "title": "BitTorrent Sync", "desc": "BitTorrent Sync Web UI", "icon": "images/btsync-{0}.png", "type": "url", "protocol": "http", "port": "8888", "url": "/", "allUsers": false } }}

Hi Guys, would I be correct in saying that neither of you can browse folders either? Just a guess.
Please can you add your notes / comments to the official Synocommunity site, I have started a thread on their official Github site here: https://github.com/SynoCommunity/spksrc/issues/1229#issuecomment-54833191

Hi John,
I have access to several NAS's myself and have found the same problem on a number of NASs, but not all.
Im not sure what we're going to do at the moment, but I have raised a ticket with Synocommunity: https://github.com/SynoCommunity/spksrc/issues/1229

We have updated to 1.4 on several NAS devices and found a couple of issues....
1 NAS will display BTSync UI fine but will not let you browse folders, there is only a single input box for 'Path'. Ive tried to manually add a path, but it wont let me save either.
Another NAS will not display any UI at all, just a blank page.
Have tried both devices with various browsers (IE10/11) as well as Chrome.
Both NAS units are exactly the same, with the same DSM and same BTSync version
On my home NAS, which is a similar device, using the same version, everything is fine.
*Edit* so an uninstall and reinstall managed to fix the page not showing, but still unable to add any folders to either device
On a side note, everytime the program is launched, on both the faulty units it keeps asking for username/password and to agree the EULA, as if its not remembering this? It also display "Loading" on the main sync screen without any folders or anything added. Could it be a permission issue?

thanks for the update hurik.
I assume you have a stable internet connection and did not see these issues with 1.3?
-
Hurik,
Just to confirm, your only seeing lost connections on your NAS, so far no actual Sync issues or old files being replaced etc?
I assume it didn't try and re-sync everything, just the missing files?
-
Thanks Hurik, i'd be interested to know how people get on with this software and what sort of setup they have, i.e NAS to NAS or NAS to users.
Theres a lot of gripes in the main desktop thread, mainly about the UI, but also a lot of Sync issue. Im a bit hesitant to upgrade at the moment, due to it being in a live environment.

Yes,
This is fundamentally how the bit torrent network works.
The more piers there are the easier the bandwidth is on the offices and in theory, the faster the downloads.
-
another +1 for UI editing.
There should be no need to edit such settings at file level
-
I echo hernancho007's comment...

I have not yet tested 1.4 on my Synology NAS, but I was wondering if it would be possible to add an exclusion list of files (any maybe sub folders?).
I would specifically like to exclude temp files, .db files, .bak files etc
-
AzimutTheUt,
I have been using 1.3 from the Synocommunity mentioned above and am pleased to say its so far worked flawlessly between 3 NAS devices.
Synocommunity are very reputable, but I also agree, it would be nice to see an official package from BTSync in the Synology App Station.

I have around 1TB of data I would like to add to my BT Sync list, which will be split in 5/6 sync tasks.
If I was to copy the data manually to the other location(s), would btsync still want to Sync ALL data or is there a way I can trick it?
-
It is however available as a community package: https://synocommunity.com
Im sure its the latest version and its something we're currently using ourselves.

another +1 for scheduler.
Like many others, we currently have restricted bandwidth during the day and have a lot of other web applications in use, I would rather let BTSync run full speed out of office hours and switch it off during office hours.
Keep up the great work

We are testing V1.4 now, but wanted to update with 1.3 incase its an obvious the problem still exists in 1.4.
The left side is the original file on the RS3614XS+ and the right side if the newly created file on the DS421+
It seems to have taken permission of the file, and not applied the same file permissions after sync;
