w411
Is there a way to view the files that are pending transfer as indicated by the up arrow: http://d.pr/i/JIc I did a few searches within the forums, but it is becoming more and more difficult to find information in here as nothing is segmented. w411
I happened to find a temporary XLSX file that started with a ~ and deleted it. Within about a minute everything shows as up to date: http://d.pr/i/m0N0
GreatMarko
Is there a way to view the files that are pending transfer as indicated by the up arrow: Not currently (short of enabling debug logging!) - I would suggest you post this suggestion in the Wishlist thread
GreatMarko
I happened to find a temporary XLSX file that started with a ~ and deleted it. Within about a minute everything shows as up to date: XLSX files that begin with a ~ are generally "lock" files created by Microsoft Excel whilst you edit an actual XLSX file. Sync cannot sync files that are currently open/locked/in use by other applications. Closing an XLSX file in excel will automatically remove the associated "lock" file (starting with a ~ character), and allow your XLSX file to Sync. You could also consider adding a rule to your SyncIgnore to prevent Sync trying to sync temporary "~" files
w411
That file definitely was not in use though, it was dated November 4th and the system would have been rebooted several times since that date. Sync at some point must have caught the xlsx file after it was unlocked but before Office deleted it?
GreatMarko
Sync at some point must have caught the xlsx file after it was unlocked but before Office deleted it? Quite possibly - that's why it's worth adding an exclusion rule for temporary "~" offices files in your .SyncIgnore file
w411
so would this be the right syntax to add to the .syncignore: ~*.* and will it apply to all files and subfolders within the folder?
w411
Answered my own question, as long as it is in the root of each shared folder, it appears to apply to all files & subfolders after restarting BT Sync.considering the following are already included in the .SyncIgnore as "OS generated files": .DS_Store.DS_Store?._*.Spotlight-V100.TrashesIcon?ehthumbs.dbdesktop.iniThumbs.db Wouldn't it make sense to also include ~*.* or at the very least when you right click a folder to "Show folder preferences" at least give an option to "use predefined exclusions" the same as "use predefined hosts"?
