sfking
Please tell me BTSync isn't sending the same exact data to both copies during the sync! I have 1 source and 2 replicas for my initial sync. My source is putting out roughly 3GB per hour, but on my clients I'm only seeing sync copy growth of 1.5GB per hour. When I look at the transfer window on the source I see the same file being transmitted to both replicas at the same time. If the complete data is being transmitted to both copies, what's the point in using the BT protocol?!? The idea is that I would send different data to each of my replicas so that they would then also replicate those differences between them, not cause the initial seed to take twice as long and consume twice the bandwidth because I'm having to transmit all of the data to both nodes from the source. Please tell me that BTSync is smarter than what it seems to appear.
GottaBKD
Very good question! I have been browsing this forum looking for an answer to this without success. This is very problematic if you were to have say 100 devices and add a file to 1 device. Would 99 devices starting trying to download from that one device at the same time? It would take forever to get the file on all devices.
frater
I would like to know this too. On top of that I'd like to know if a changed big file sends all its content again or merely the portion that changed? Cheers
