Sync As A Method Of File Transfer

Hello,

Please feel free to boo me off the stage, but am I the only one who likes sync because it provides an easy peer-peer way to exchange files of infinite size with friends in a robust way?

The only problem is, sync is by its very nature not really built for that.  It's built for setting up a folder and then everything in that folder is synced on all of the connected machines.  I need to copy my files into the folder, or else the recipient may delete the file and thus my only copy by mistake.  The recipient (I'm looking at you mom) might not know to copy the file out of the synced folder instead of moving it or deleting it.

I think beamitover is kinda getting at what I'm talking about, but it is linked to facebook.

I bet there wouldn't be too many steps to use the bittorrent architecture to create a pretty darn good file/folder transfer utility.  There are probably other tools to use, it's just that the bittorrent infrastructure seems ideal (no ports to open, servers to run, etc)
