How Smart Is Bittorrent Sync

Recommended Posts

I need to sync files between two remote offices.  They are files that would normally take at least 12 hours to sync based on our top speeds.  Currently, we have a computer in each remote office and they all sync together, then we use usb drives to transfer the files to the other local systems.

If we install btsync on all of the systems, when a file is dropped in to be synced, will all 12 systems on the remote network try to sync the file at once, causing a redundant transfer of data?  Or will they all try to sync different parts and then share amongst themselves for the other parts?  Or will they patiently wait in line for the first computer to get it synced before then syncing to the rest of the computers on the local network?

Has anyone tried this?  Obviously, if all 12 computers try to sync from the other office at once, it's going to take 6 days to get a file synced.
