Can't Wrap My Head Around This Scenario

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

I started using BTSync this past week. Laptop A had an external HD connected (let's call it 1) and laptop B had an external HD connected (let's call it 2). Laptop A initiated the sync using a folder on 1 and sent the key to Laptop B, which pointed the sync to a folder on 2. B then added files to 2, and A added files to 1. Synchronization started, but didn't finish.

Now, I'd like to move drive 1 to a desktop machine ©, where it will remain permanently connected and continue to sync with 2 (which is connected to B).  I'm hoping to not have to resync everything that has already synced.

How do I do this, without screwing it up?  Or is my only option to start the sync from scratch?

Thank you!!!!

How do I do this, without screwing it up?

  1. Copy the folder's key from Laptop A
  2. Remove (disconnect) the folder from Sync on Laptop A
  3. Disconnect the removable drive from Laptop A
  4. Connect the removable drive to Computer C
  5. Install Sync on Computer C
  6. Add the folder on your removable drive (not connected to C) to Sync on Computer C using the original key you copied in step 1

Sync will re-index the folder, but nothing should need to re-sync all over again
