doveweed
Is it possible to use BitTorrent Sync to maintain two identical operating systems and file docs on two different machines? I'm faced with this (something I didn't want) after my MacBook Pro 2011 bricked (because of the apparently widespread discrete GPU failure). While waiting to have my MBPro repaired, I purchased a Mac Mini 2012 and restored the OS from the MBPro to it. By the time I get the MBPro back up and running, I'll probably have added/changed files on the Mac Mini for nearly 2 weeks or more. I'm told by Apple Sr Tech Support that OSX Time Machine is machine specific and that I must maintain separate T_M backups for each machine. Support doesn't recommend doing what I did, using T_M backup from MBPro to restore to Mac Mini, but so far I haven't encountered any problems, and system seems to be working smooth. However, when I have both machines running, I'd like to have whichever other machine I'm not using automatically update to whatever I do on the machine I use. If I use the MBPro, then I want the Mac Mini to sync to it and update any files accordingly, and vice versa when I use the Mac Mini. Is that possible using BitTorrent Sync?If so, how? If not, can you recommend an alternative?
RomanZ
@doveweedYou cannot synchronize whole OS using Sync. Sync does a very straightforward file-to-file synchronization, while many files are computer-specific and should not be copied or even worse - should be merged carefully. This also scales to your user home folder - there are way too much computer specific stuff and it is not recommended to sync whole user folder. The best thing Sync can do is to keep synced selected data folders of your profile - like, Documents or Downloads.
