1. I do not want to trust personal files to proprietary software. Having the files hosted on your own machines instead of thirdparty black boxes is one of the selling point of this project. If the software is proprietary, nothing is solved, the problem is just moved.

And yet there is still the ability to monitor the traffic from the application using other tools like wireshark.
