jjg
I'd like to setup a server that receives everything that I share via Sync so that in the event that I loose/delete the data from my laptop, etc., I have a backup.I *think* the way to do this is to use the read-only secret to setup the share on the server, but if I do that and then delete the files on the source machine, will they be deleted at the server as well? GreatMarko
I *think* the way to do this is to use the read-only secret to setup the share on the server, but if I do that and then delete the files on the source machine, will they be deleted at the server as well?Yes, they would be - a folder on Device B with a "read only" Sync essentially "follows" the source folder on say Device A, so any changes made on Device A would propagate to Device B, but changes on Device B would not propagate back to Device ADo remember though, that even with a "read only" Sync on Device B, if items are deleted from Device A, on Device B they would just be moved to the SyncArchive folder - so they'd wouldn't be physically deleted from Device B by defaultEssentially, what would be needed to fully achieve what you're after is the ability to have a "write only" Sync... which doesn't, at this time, exist.
