Wesley_Pipes
I have a very particular problem with bittorrent where if I am editing a .xls, the file will have a chance to never sync on my other machine. Let me now elaborate: the files I am editing/saving are part of a class I am taking and when I open these .xls, there is a 50/50 chance that they will end up in the sync loop with the other computer creating the !sync files but no actual file will ever appear. If I check the progress in transfers, the file will appear, then disappear, then reappear again (repeat) forever until I remove the file having the issue, delete the !sync, then place the file back. Now what makes these particular files the only ones I have issues with still eludes me but I know the files come from a Linux machine created in Libre Office in which I am using Microsoft Office 2013 on Windows 8.1 to edit them. I recently did a clean windows install on one of my computers and used BitTorent Sync to transfer some folders back and I had a list of about 10 .xls files that would never make the transfer and resolved this like what was mentioned above. I look forward to seeing what help I can get on this but other than that this program is essential to the way I work and I really appreciate the effort put into this software. Thanks,Wesley Recap:Problem: .xls files sometimes don't transferSymptom: !sync files created on receiving machine but no .xlsOS: Windows 8.1 x64Potential Cause: .xls files come from Linux machine created in Libre office (all I can think about)Work Around: remove .xls, delete !sync on receiving machine, replace .xls
Harold Feit
version of sync?filename conflict possible with windows (remembering that windows is case insensitive while linux is case sensitive)?
GreatMarko
Also, remember that Sync can't transfer files when they are open/locked/in use by other applications - such as the case of .xls files open in Microsoft Excel. Closing Excel should then allow your .xls files to transfer.
