Install Btsync On Synology Ds213J - Need Help!

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I followed this tutorial: http://blog.bittorrent.com/2014/02/04/sync-hacks-how-to-set-up-bittorrent-sync-on-a-synology-nas/

Now I'm at the point where I need to download the latest BTsync version for my DS213j with WGET.

I tried all of the packages listed here and they all are not compatible with my cpu: http://www.bittorrent.com/intl/de/sync/downloads

Could someone please point me to the right version for my DS213j?

The DS213j has an armv7l cpu.

Well, the ARM version is working. Seems I didn't test this one, lol.

Still, I get following error after entering:

./btsync --config ../conf/sync.conf

I get following error:

Storage path specified in config file does not exist.

Storage path in the sync.conf is following, I didn't change it:

"storage_path" : "/home/user/.sync",

What do I have to do now? :)

EDIT: I created the folder with following command:

mkdir ~/.btsync

Still getting the same error:

Storage path specified in config file does not exist.

EDIT 2: Working now, i just needed to enter: ./btsync and it started, it's using the config as wanted.

New question:

How can I autostart ./btsync? It's disabled after every reboot of my synology.

Hi guys! I have also a DS213j and I´m trying to run BTsync in the NAS within a laptob and Ipad.

Here is what I´ve done so far:

- From this link https://www.dropbox.com/sh/aiz3migoap42b7s/AABHlfR7fvQGr8VwBat-xgyWa I installed python_armada370_2.7.6-8.spk.

- From this link http://synology.w01.eu/ I installed  (btsync_armada370_1.2.82-1.spk).

I think both suit the DS213j because I had no problems for the installation.

- I created a shared folder "A1" just to test if it works. The thing is I receive this message when I try to add the folder: http://awesomescreenshot.com/0642t4yjb7

I´m running everything as admin. Any idea what I´m doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

@cjbr54

The screenshot says that Sync lacks of permissions to write to the selected folder. I suggest connecting to your NAS over SSH and checking:

1) which user is running btsync process

2) if this user has enough permissions to write to the A1 folder.

Also, I see that the link for sinology indicates that you use 1.2.82 version of BTSync while 1.3.94 is already available. I suggest you update the binary on the NAS.

RomanZ, thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.

Unfortunately, my SSH knowledge is nearly 0. I download putty and got into the console,  I typed the command "top" to Display most current processes running and here is the result: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ri2a5prsjf36hw1/SSH%20image.jpg

How I check which user is running btsync process and if it has enough permissions to write to the folder?

Regards.

P.S: Where can I find the update of BTSync for the NAS? 1.2.82 it´s the only one I was able to find.

Thanks for the link Harold Feit !! Now, I´m not sure if I´ll download because I think I managed to make it work!! :D

The key was to add permissions to "users" (not only "admin") inside "Locals Groups", inside the wished folder. Pls see the link:

Thanks a lot for your answers, I hope my case helps more people.
