lustytralwer
Hi everyone, I'd like to transfer a large number of files over the LAN from one PC to another one...I'd like to make sure that the sync is happening over the LAN and not via the Internet as this would kill my bandwith cap. I can't really see anywhere that it would indicate the connection type. From what I've read, BitTorrent sync has automatic LAN discovery... Thanks, Lusty
GreatMarko
I'd like to make sure that the sync is happening over the LAN and not via the Internet as this would kill my bandwith cap. Please see "Can I force Sync to do local network (LAN) syncing only and not sync via the Internet?" in the Unofficial FAQ I can't really see anywhere that it would indicate the connection type.Sync won't indicate whether a connection is within your LAN or over the internet per say, however, it will indicate whether a "direct" connection could be established (which is usually the case with local connections), or whether the connection is "relayed" (which is often the case with external connections via the internet). For more information, please see "What do the device icons mean?" in the Unofficial FAQ
lustytralwer
Ok thanks I'll check that out. It's obviously working over the LAN because it transferred 30 gigs in about 2 minutes!! whoa!! Frig I love this software!!
ChrisH
30 GByte = 30720 MByte2 Minutes = 120 seconds30720/120 => 256 MByte per second average Unless you have a dedicated 10 GBit LAN, I seriously doubt that.
