chr157
Really sorry if this question has been asked before, I couldn't find anything in the forums. I have 1.3.109 installed on Debian Linux x64 (Lubuntu 14.04), and it was installed from the repository using apt-get. How do I replace 1.3.109 with 1.4.72 if the repository still contains the old version? Thanks. Chris
Harold Feit
download the current package for your variant of linux from the download page, find the location where the btsync binary is located and replace it with your downloaded version. chr157
Thanks for the reply. The only BitTorrent Sync binary I can find is btsync-gui located in /usr/bin. The binary in the downloaded bittorrent_sync_x64.tar.gz is simply named btsync. So I'm not really sure what to do with this file... Also, will replacing the binary with a new one give me an updated web UI?
Harold Feit
btsync-gui is, as far as I'm aware, a separate 3rd-party application and not what you want to be replacing. Check your process manager (such as top or htop) for other btsync applications, once you find them, you can use that to find the correct location for the executable to replace. chr157
Using htop I can see that btsync-core and btsync-gui are the only Sync applications running. I should probably just leave all of this alone and wait for the third-party apps to be updated. Thanks for your help, sorry for wasting your time! Harold Feit
Find and replace the btsync-core file with the btsync binary from our package.
chr157
Oh fantastic - that works Thank you!
tuxpoldo
I'm about to release the new packages. Both the old btsync and btsync-gui packages should also work with a replaced btsync-core executable but you will get support for some new features only after the update. chr157
Ah, I see. That makes sense. Thank you!
tuxpoldo
The packages have been published. Immediately available from YeaSoft's repository. Launchpad PPA will take a few hours. You can flag the topic as solved.
