wolfgangrumpf
I've been using BTSync for many months now and have discovered an apparent incompatibility between BTSync and the Arris Media Gateway hardware that is being used by WOW internet/cable (and perhaps others) for the whole home DVR solution. Our media players kept losing connectivity to the gateway (the tv "box" couldn't access the central media server). WOW technicians made literally 10 service calls, replaced everything - all the wiring, all the hardware - no good. Finally one of the techs found a post on an obscure forum suggesting that Arris and BTSync were in conflict - so I turned off BTSync on all the computers in the house and everything worked. I verified by allowing everything to run for 14 days with BTSync turned off (everything was fine), then turning BTSync back on - and the Arris connectivity failed. This has been validated by other sporadic posts on the internet - for some reason BTSync and the Arris Media Gateway hardware just don't get along. Is there any way to figure out what specifically is going on? I don't want to give up on BTSync!
GreatMarko
I'd hazard a guess that your Arris Media Gateways are not able to handle the volume of network traffic that Sync is generating on your network. There are a few things you can do to reduce the amount of network traffic:1) Turn off Search LAN (this is a per-folder setting in Sync) and use pre-defined hosts where necessary2) If all your Sync devices are on the same local LAN, also turn off relay/tracker/and DHT options (again, per folder-settings)3) Rate Limit Sync's upload/download rates, and set the advanced "rate_limit_local_peers" setting to "true"
