Can't Wrap My Head About Syncing Sensitive Information When The Software Is Closed Source And While It Seems Developers Will Do Anything To Make Money

Recommended Posts

I just can't.

Most ads in uTorrent are borderline virus / scam

Bundling of adware and crypto currency mining software in uTorrent.

Intentionally misleading install procedure, to trick people to install stuff they don't want.

Promissing no downgrade from BTSYNC 1.4 to 2.0,  While adding 10 folder limit.

Sell software as a subscription. 40$ / year ...

Haven't followed the case much, am I missing any ?

There's (at least) two schools of thought. One says that everything should be open and transparent so that you know that there aren't bugs or malicious bits of code. The other that by keeping it closed your are keeping it secure (eg. the "bad guys" can't either find a non-discovered bug or security hole or introduce one by contributing code.).

And money. Keeping it closed is probably easier to monetize.
