HTTP error 401 when opening localhost:8888/gui/

Recommended Posts

So I'm using WSL2 under Windows 10.

Distribution is 22.04.4 LTS.  (I recently upgraded to this version via command do-release-upgrade)

I'm pretty sure it was working OK before the upgrade.

I'm not sure if the upgrade broke it or something else did.

But now, I just get HTTP error 401 whenever I try to open the GUI.

If I delete my storage folder, visiting 127.0.0.1:8888 will direct me to the nice welcome page where I can define a username and password, and accept the terms. But as soon as I click on the "get started" button the page gets stuck.  subsequent visits to 127.0.0.1:8888 just give me HTTP error 401.

How can I start troubleshooting this issue?
