@tuxpoldo: any chance that you update the PPA with the latest version from btsync? I tried manually to overwrite the btsync-core with the latest version on my Debian box, but it didn't work (I get a configuration file error...). We really need to have btsync up and running, and I don't want to switch to a NAS.
tuxpoldo has not been seen on this forum for about half a year, so i guess it is safe to assume he has moved on and probably won't return here unfortunately.
@noiime
I tried your workaround with v2.1.3 but it failed: after starting btsync again, I get a configuration file error... Do you know where one can get previous builds of btsync for linux?
For me the workaround works fine
-
The changes in the API from 1.4 to 2.0 are making it very difficult to adapt the same functionality.
It might never get full functionality.
I just installed the server package of version 2.0 on my desktops, that works fine. You can use the web-gui for configuration.
-
Where would you do this?
It is in the config file
-
same issue here
as workaround you can edit the default path...
-
i use 10 folders at the moment, so technically i could upgrade but then i'm stuck with the limit if i want to add another folder.
So the answer is yes
-
3 seems the most fair solution

would it make sense to use apt to pin your btsync packages at version 1.4 instead of making a new repo?
Probably, but how to deal with a clean install?
-
Can you make a separate repo for version 2.0?
I don't want to lose the more than 10 folder possibility.
-
Fully agree with the above, sync as it was in 1.4 would remain free. Now I have to pay to continue to use it with more than 10 folders. I guess I'm going to check out Syncthing.

I installed btsync-gui on a desktop running linux mint xfce and i noticed that the icon is not spinning during synchronization.
-
Will this eventually be updated to the new 1.4x version of BTSync ?
I guess not till 1.4 is released as stable version
Edit. I see it is already, so it won't be long anymore

On my server the harddisk will not spindown when btsync is running. Disk access is irregular.
When i stop btsync disk does spin down correctly.
"folder_rescan_interval" is set to 86400 (1 day)

I have the desktop packages and it says in the about: Version 1.3.105 (1.3.105) - Linux UI Version 0.8.3
But it seems to work fine on Mint 17.
-
I guess you will have to check each shared directory manually, or read the logs very carefully.
-
Any specific reason your packages are not updated yet to 1.3.105?
Usually you are pretty fast, so just wondering

www.tonido.com is which i use, you could also try extplorer

Just updated to linux mint 17 (based ubuntu 14.04) and it will not connect:
in the log:
2014-05-16 11:45:20,870 - WARNING - BtSync API HTTP error: 4012014-05-16 11:45:25,879 - WARNING - BtSync API HTTP error: 4012014-05-16 11:45:37,795 - WARNING - BtSync API HTTP error: 401
edit: a computer restart solved it
-
By the way what i noticed during troubleshooting:
When you install btsync for the first time, the 'configurator' asks just a few settings.
After installing and you run dpkg-rconfigure, then it asks for all the settings.
Just wondering if thats normal behavior.
-
Solved it.
The server btsync is using is on a openvz container (in proxmox). These work standard with a venet ip address (has no mac address).
Changed it to a veth ipadress (does have a mac address). And now i can access the webgui again.
Don't know what changed in the meantime because it used to work fine. Anyway, i'm happy it works again.
-
It probably is not the browser since it behaves fine with my other btsync server install. The normal functioning server is running debian stable, the one with problems based on jessie, so jessie might be the problem, but then am i the only one using jessie?

Well, something is wrong. I installed latest update.
When i go to the webinterface i see still 1.3.86, then a refresh of the screen gives version 0.0.0 (like before)
The i do a restart and you see btsync has quit in the meantime. And i have 1.3.93 installed.

I have an issue with the debian jessie package (1.3.87).
When i restart the server and access the webinterface i see version 1.3.86 and the shares, after a screen refresh i see only version 0.0.0 and no shares.
I cleared cookies and cache, does not help. I tried chrome, firefox and my android tablet, all same results.
First time i see this, and it is only on my jessie server, i also have a debian stable server and that one is ok. Can you check the jessie package?

Sorry, i dont know why, i just followed the steps provided. Basically you stop btsync, make a backup of btsync, copy the new one in place and start again.
Did you repeat the steps? Otherwise just reinstall latest version of tuxpoldo and try again.
