  1. We might find the issue and hope to resolve it in new builds. We suspect that the issue is that access to tracker servers is blocked in some way. We will optimize it, but using predefined hosts might be an immediate help for now.

Thanks for confirming that you are looking into it.

How about a function to add a predefined host in android? That would be a good start.

PEX, is that function working or is it in the works?

I have set up at home now, a rasp pi, that syncs with 1 android (photo backup) and a pc, both pc and rasbpi got the RO key. When I look on the webinterface, the rasbpi only connects to my desktop. My desktop use predefined host to find the android inside my LAN. But shouldn't it tell the rasbpi about the android device?

I hope my explanation makes sense.

  2. You can have it run over HTTPS without logs.

If it's too sensitive. Have the client configuration somewhere you consider safe. The keys will work no matter where they are generated.

I believe that the amount of possible combinations the standard key has, will outlive any media holding the data.

And after that. They still need to download all the data. And you can keep logs of that..

You could store data in Truecrypt containers?

  3. Two desktops and two mobiles are in one LAN network.

Two mobile phone, one is android 4.1.1 and the other is android 4.2.2.

I pair these two mobiles with my win7 desktop, but in the sync tab of mobiles,it always prompt 0 device online.

I try to use BTsync in two desktops,it works well.

And also i use send function with two mobiles,it works well too.

The problem is the connection between mobile and desktop. It can't find each other.

Any body can help me? Many thanks!

I hope devs figures this out. You're not the only one with this problem.

  4.

I second this. I was really excited about the encrypted peer feature, but this is a deal breaker.

To sum this up from my enduser perspective (I planned to use a VPS as an encrypted peer for somewhat secure cloud storage), please correct me if I am wrong:

    • Unlike with other secrets is not and will never be possible to simply derive an encrypted peer secret from a custom, self generated base 64 RW secret.

    • The only way to make use of the encrypted peer feature is to generate a brand new share using the "api?method=get_secrets&type=encryption" call, note down the three (RO/RW/ENC) secrets and use those for the peers accordingly.

You can have the API on your VPS. Let the client generate a key them self. Easy as pie!

  5. To have a setting in android for a predefined host would be great.

I guess a global list, and also an individual for each share if one pleases.

It won't even sync in LAN for me without me connecting to a VPN with my android first.

I hope devs are reading, if they need. I can provide a virtualbox with teamviewer from China so you can try it yourself

  6. Can you try using a VPN and see if it connects?

I also live in China. It started acting up with the new version.

I connected to a VPN in Los Angeles, and then it worked within seconds.

In my home network, my phone didn't work either to sync the pictures in LAN, I also connected it to the L.A VPN and it worked within seconds once again, even though the transfers were sent over LAN, for some reason they couldn't discover each other without the VPN.

    VPN x4

    LAN x2

  7. I was hoping for something like this too.

    Especially for phone backups.

The setting on the phone is called backup, but it's not really a backup if it gets deleted.

The receiving part should have a setting to choose to move the file or keep it, and if the file is updated, add a number behind it. example file.txt - file.1.txt and so on

Also to be able to choose a folder where all ".SyncArchive" directories can go inside.

And same for the .SyncIgnore and other files, maybe have a global file, otherwise it can just be in a settings folder in the btsync folder, and can easily be read from there while scanning/indexing

  8. Requesting peers from tracker 59.24.3.173:3000 via UDP

    I get nothing.

I just connected to my VPN, and now I can see my 3 linux servers in the connection list.

and also a list of more tracker ip's.

I guess the first one is blocked here and can't give me any more.

But it still doesn't solves the LAN issue, where mine and my wifes phone doesn't upload to my Windows machine at home withing the same LAN.

I will connect my phone to the VPN as well and see what happens.

    It worked within seconds.

Transfers are still made LAN though.

Can you guys figure this out?

  9. Are you using the latest 1.2.9 version for Android and 1.2.68 version on desktop?

    Thanks!

Yes I am. I tried uninstalling it on my windows 8.1. deleted all files in appdata, and installed it again.

Now it can't connect to anything.

Only 3 linux servers are connected to each other (also running 1.2.68) i tried installing it on a rasp pi i have at home too, but it doesn't receive any connections from anyone)

not sure what it is, but it doesn't seem like it is connecting to anything at the moment.

i tried to share folder between the 2 android phones, but even they're under the same wifi, they can't find each other.

  10. Android and sleeping: I like the idea of the "wake up every 30 minutes to see if there is anything to do", but I'm not sure it is working.  I have my phone set up to share my camera folder.  But I've taken pictures (while btsync is running in the background) and then waited several hours and they have not synced to my other systems.  If I then bring btsync to the foreground, it seems to wake up and send everything.

Any suggestions?  Is there anything I could send in in terms of logs that would help debug this?

Also experiencing this on 2 google nexus 4 phones. both set to backup the dcim folder.

not syncing at all with my windows 8.1 machine.

  11. I'm having a problem on one of my BTSync Windows 7 machines where the client is constantly using 15% of the CPU and is just slowing the machine down. I use it on three Windows machine and only one of them is experiencing problems. It appears that the problem is that it keeps moving between all of my sync folders and reindexing them and one of the folders contains a single 2.6 GB file that is causing all of the problems. I don't have this sync folder on any of my other Windows machines which don't have this issue.

I am experiencing the same thing. Folders with large files just keeps getting indexed and eats CPU. It happens on 2 linux servers and 1 Windows 8.1 workstation all using v 1.2.67. I have another linux server using 1.2.67. But the folders with large files isn't there and it's not indexing 24/7. It's probably something small. I hope you find out what it is soon! Thanks

  12. Hi. While I don't keep mobile data up all the time, and sync app is not kept up all the time, there is no history of any data traces in history on my Xperia. Check your app version, there was fix on this matter some time ago. Maybe you still use earlier version?

I have the latest version 1.1.38

I can see all data usage for all applications under,  settings - data usage

  13. Hi!

I got the BTSync client on my Nexus 4. Works flawlessly apart for 1 thing,

"Use Cellular Data" I unchecked it.

But I see my android log of the mobile data, BTSync use about 10MB / day.

I am in China and my data traffic is limited, i think 70MB per month.

It exceeded and it costs me about 6$ a day....for something I opted out for.

Maybe no data transfers are made, but it is definitely checking something, a lot and often.
