Using wap-psk is the same as not using encryption at all.

Don't go to the local Starbucks. Go to a place a little further from home.

Thumbs up to this idea.

I have the same issue. When I reboot my computer, the connection is lost until it's back on and BTSync running.

If the third computer connects to internet via Bluetooth, it should work. Once i connected my computer to my phone and with usb tethering. On The computer, i had a virtualbox running windows. And it synced with my phone without any problem. So i think the same would go for a Bluetooth tether

You can have a single folder with separate folders for each device inside it.

Your secret, when hashed will give a different value. This can not be reversed. That value is what is being sent out to other clients.

Multi sync as in all synced nodes will assist any node still syncing. In theory it would lead to a faster sync. But in practice most of them idle as there's no thought how each chunk is distributed, node1 will send the same piece to all other nodes. Then continue with the next one..

Is the Pi connected to any network? Best solution for is to play the Pi into a wifi router and have phone join the same network. It will obviously only be syncing when both devices are in the vicinity of the router.

It won't sync if your PC is off. The android app can do a selective sync, so you can choose which files folders you want to sync on the go

Is true crypt using the file? If so, btsync will wait for it to be released before continuing the upload

Yes that is it.
Myself, I raised it to 120. Just to be on the safe side. When space is getting low, I could easily expand or clean up the archive.

You might want to change the default 30 days synchistory to a higher value

You can't do that. You have create a new one in the API to get the encryption secret at this point.

The app can't know if you're home or not, and switch network settings automatically. But when syncing, the local source will be much faster.

The first time you start btsync it will ask you to create a user and password. Try deleting all settings in the .sync folder and start it again, hopefully that will help

Try defrag. There is a freeware called defraggler you can try out too

That's what the sync archive is for. BTSync doesn't evaluate files. It just syncs in a safe way.
The only corruption it protects you from is the governments

If the key is a read only. No changes will be made on any other devices. If you use the sync archive function, it will also protect you if something happens to your phone. Ie someone steals it and deletes the pictures, or a child playing with it and deleting by mistake.

You give them their own folders and secrets.
On the server,
create a folder for the user.
Add it as a share in BT Sync and generate a new secret. Give the user the read-write secret so they can store files.
On the client, create the folder and instead of generating a new secret, use the same secret you got when you hit generate on the server.
I hope you can work it out!

Good luck for btsync to access that on your iPhone.

I'm having an issue with a read-only synch apparently going the wrong way.
Setup:
- My brother (in Canada) has set up a folder to be backed up, and sent me a one-time read-only secret to it
- I've set up a Sync folder on my home server with that secret
Problem:
We've done an initial sync a few weeks ago (that took several days). Since then nothing has happened. Suddenly yesterday my server showed activity, and looking into it my server shows stuff UPLOADING, while my brother shows stuff DOWNLOADING. That shouldn't happen in that direction with a read-only synch ?
I'm thinking he goofed and sent me a two-way secret ?
It is fairly easy to see if it's a read only key or not.
Questions:
0- the uploading (on my PC) and downloading (on his PC) status on the Transfert tab does mean that stuff is going from my PC to his, right ?
1- is there any way I can check that folder is set up to synch one way, not both ways ?
2- any other ideas ? A documented bug maybe ?
-
Great examples. Do you have any other?

Try the latest version of Bittorrent Sync. Before that, remove all files in the .sync that should be in the same folder that the btsync executable
