  1. I just had all of my folders disconnect on my MacBook Pro last night (while Sync was running; no reboots or restarts of the app), so I tediously reconnected them all. Then my Mac Mini reset all of its folders later this afternoon (this computer is literally never shut down unless a serious security vulnerability needs to be fixed as it acts as more of a home server), so I tediously reconnected them all. Next I expect my Windows 10 (anniversary update) to do it. This was in Sync 2.3.8 for all machines, except one that was running on a virtual machine that I had to rollback to an old snapshot to get it to boot and was updated (I thought) before reconnecting it to the pool. Seriously, when a critical bug fix like this is made it should just outright refuse to connect to older clients especially if they can mess with the newer version, because this screwed me over at the worst possible moment. The second reset occurred long after the application was updated (last night), so I have no clue why it still has an impact that many days later which is why I still am anticipating my Windows 10 machine to do it. The last three months have been absolutely frustrating due to all the issues I've been running into over and over again, even old ones that I thought were fixed but still apparently can be triggered by simply running an older version unexpectedly.
  2. This is more of a how to fix than an "I need help" as after searching the forums for hours I found nothing in the way of a fix. In short to fix this, edit the shortcut you use to launch BitTorrent Sync's Target (by default it's C:\Program Files\BitTorrent Sync\BTSync.exe) to include the /NOINSTALL flag at the end (you will probably need to add quotes around the target if they are not present). Like so: "C:\Program Files\BitTorrent Sync\BTSync.exe" /NOINSTALL To the BitTorrent Sync Team: Please fix your installer to include the /NOINSTALL flag on the shortcuts it creates. This fixes the issue for people using a standard account and doesn't break anything for people using an administrator account. Long Story: Today I did my annual "fix all the broken/problematic programs on my Windows install" which I do without reformatting and whatnot, and in the process, BitTorrent Sync started acting up rather than fixing the issue I had with it (I don't remember the original issue). Before you say nay, please note I use my computer daily on a Standard User Account, not an Administrator Account: so if you do have this setup, this probably doesn't apply to you. The new issue happens to be that after installing BitTorrent Sync every time I launched the program it would prompt me for an administrator password. If I provided the password, it would do nothing until I launched it again and provided the password again (at which point it would work normally). If I clicked "No" then it would continue to launch normally (as if I had entered the password for two consecutive launches). What I found out was that BTSync.exe is pretty much identical in behavior to the installer: i.e. they are the same process (correct me if I'm wrong). This made me think of uTorrent which is the same style but does not have the same issue. I noticed that during the installation, the shortcuts uTorrent created included a /NOINSTALL flag while BitTorrent Sync does not, so I figured why not try it?
