Virgin Media Superhub Crashes when running BTSync

Hi

I posted this in the wrong place, but I couldn't move the thread...

I've got an issue with BT Sync killing my router that was supplied by Virgin Media.

Its in Modem mode and I have a Draytek 2930n handling all my traffic.

I thought it could be the actual device so I had VM replace it today. I fired up BT Sync to download some files from my office and it went again. I can't just buy a better router either because it is a cable modem.

When the router dies I cannot connect to the net on any other device in the house and I can't ping addresses. I get really slow traceroutes to an external IP though.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

It may be that the volume/rate of traffic through your router to/from Sync is what's causing your router to throw a wobbly!

To confirm or rule this out, try setting the "Limit download rate" and "Limit upload rate" settings within BitTorrent Sync so that the speed of traffic through your router is lower.

I have a VM Superhub in modem mode running and a TP-Link N750 router with openwrt and everything seems fine. I have the 120/10 Mbit package and never had problems. I have to admit, that most syncing is going out only, as I sync my shared folders offsite.

Thanks guys - loads to try!

I'm not at home at the moment, but I am elsewhere with a VM router. I've tested it via the Super Hub and am currently testing it in Modem mode directly connected to my laptop to see if that kills it.

If there are no issues then I am going to test a direct connection from my home address when I get back and see if it falls over there.

I think its an issue with the line, but I want to test everything and get back to them with some results.

The limiting thing seems like something to try - will do this too!
