Disable Authentication

Recommended Posts

I want to disable user authentication for the webgui. In my config file I have not set login and password fields. They are commented out. I also tried to set them to nill (login : "") but this does not work. Therefore my question: how can I disable user authentication?

 "webui" :  {    "listen" : "0.0.0.0:8888" // remove field to disable WebUI/* preset credentials. Use password or password_hash *///  ,"login" : "bla"//,"password" : "bla"//  ,"password_hash" : "some_hash" // password hash in crypt(3) format//  ,"allow_empty_password" : false // Defaults to true/* ssl configuration *///  ,"force_https" : true // disable http//  ,"ssl_certificate" : "/path/to/cert.pem"//  ,"ssl_private_key" : "/path/to/private.key"}

By the way, after changing the config file, I restart btsync service with 'service btsync restart'.

Is that the extent of you config file? ...because it's missing a "storage_path"!

In order to remove the WebUI password, you'll need to run Sync with a config file a little something like this:

{

  "storage_path" : "/Users/<username>/AppData/Roaming/BitTorrent Sync",

  "webui" : {

    "listen" : "0.0.0.0:8888"

  }

}

(the above storage_path assumes you're running on Windows, you'll need to adjust its value accordingly for your particular Sync install)
