Helen
Were /etc/btsync/ and /var/lib/btsync/ present *before* installing the package? Anyway, remove these, and then sudo apt-get purge btsync sudo apt-get update //then check that there are no /etc/btsync and /var/lib/btsync folders and sudo apt-get install btsync
