Slow Wan Sync With Linux Server

Hi,

I am using BtSync Version 1.2.67 on my  Ubuntu 13.10,

But my Sync Speeds are very slow: 22.4 kB/s up, 360.4 kB/s down.

Here are my internet speed results:

3389800851.png

The other side has a way faster internet connection.

On the server and the client are no speed limits configured.

The Listening port on the Windows GUI and the server is configured on port 9999.

On my cooperate firewall I opened the following ports in and out:

UDP 3000

TCP/UPD 3838

TCP/UDP 9999

here are the used ports and the top command of the linux server:

Can anyone please help me to improve the down and upload speed?

Hi,

in the Web GUI btsync says me Version 1.2.67 ( up to date ).

But I tried to update it again in the CLI by doing the following steps:

like here: http://forum.bittorrent.com/topic/18974-debian-and-ubuntu-server-unofficial-packages-for-bittorrent-sync/

sudo sh -c "$(curl -fsSL http://debian.yeasoft.net/add-btsync-repository.sh)"sudo apt-get updatesudo apt-get install btsyncsudo dpkg-reconfigure btsync

But the Web GUI still shows me the same version and it is still so slow syncing... even after a reboot...

I would say, that you connect to a web ui of a btsync that is definitively not the one installed from the repository. Please enter the following commands and post the output here. Let's see if we find a solution...

dpkg -l | grep btsyncps ax | grep btsync
p.s.: as everybody can see, the repository hosts the latest officially released version: http://debian.yeasoft.net/btsync/pool/main/b/btsync-common/

Here is the output:

OK - You are not using the packages from my repository. This guy eugenesan forked many months ago a very very old version of my packages but then he never kept them up to date. But you can fix it:

Look into the directory /etc/apt/sources.list.d - there you will find  some files. Look into the files. and search for a file containing the follwowing lines:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/eugenesan/ppa/ubuntu saucy maindeb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/eugenesan/ppa/ubuntu saucy main

Delete this file. Then you have to resync the package list and also to delete the installed btsync package. After that you can reinstall it:

sudo apt-get updatesudo apt-get remove btsyncsudo apt-get install btsync

Hi,

ok now the version is up to date:

ladmin@kif:~$ dpkg -l | grep btsyncii  btsync                              1.2.3-2                          all          Private network P2P file synchronisation daemon(s)ii  btsync-common                       1.2.92-2                         amd64        Private network P2P file synchronisation daemonladmin@kif:~$ ps ax | grep btsync11554 ?        Sl     1:52 /usr/lib/btsync/btsync-daemon --nodaemon --log file --config /etc/btsync/debconf-default.conf11813 pts/1    S+     0:00 grep --color=auto btsync

Version 1.2.92 ( up to date )

but the speed is still slow:

64.7 kB/s up, 306.9 kB/s down

keamas,

it means that issue is not in re-opening connections for tons of small files. I can only guess about ISP throttling the traffic.

Can you test yesterday released 1.3 version of BTSync? It uses TCP connection instead of UDP, so it might improve speed significantly if issues was in UDP traffic and / or make it more complex to throttle for ISP.
