keamas Posted March 23, 2014 Report Share Posted March 23, 2014 Hi, I am using BtSync Version 1.2.67 on my Ubuntu 13.10,But my Sync Speeds are very slow: 22.4 kB/s up, 360.4 kB/s down.Here are my internet speed results: The other side has a way faster internet connection. On the server and the client are no speed limits configured.The Listening port on the Windows GUI and the server is configured on port 9999. On my cooperate firewall I opened the following ports in and out: UDP 3000TCP/UPD 3838TCP/UDP 9999 here are the used ports and the top command of the linux server: Can anyone please help me to improve the down and upload speed?$ sudo netstat -tulpnActive Internet connections (only servers)Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program nametcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:139 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 965/smbd tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:43501 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1352/Plex Plug-in [tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:9999 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1306/btsync-daemontcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:32400 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1032/Plex Media Sertcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:22 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1190/sshd tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:8888 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1306/btsync-daemontcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:32443 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1032/Plex Media Sertcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:445 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 965/smbd tcp6 0 0 :::139 :::* LISTEN 965/smbd tcp6 0 0 :::80 :::* LISTEN 1567/apache2 tcp6 0 0 :::22 :::* LISTEN 1190/sshd tcp6 0 0 :::443 :::* LISTEN 1567/apache2 tcp6 0 0 :::445 :::* LISTEN 965/smbd udp 0 0 192.168.1.35:35959 0.0.0.0:* 1032/Plex Media Serudp 0 0 0.0.0.0:5353 0.0.0.0:* 1147/avahi-daemon: udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:56736 0.0.0.0:* 1147/avahi-daemon: udp 0 0 192.168.1.35:54729 0.0.0.0:* 1032/Plex Media Serudp 0 0 0.0.0.0:32410 0.0.0.0:* 1032/Plex Media Serudp 0 0 0.0.0.0:32413 0.0.0.0:* 1032/Plex Media Serudp 0 0 0.0.0.0:32414 0.0.0.0:* 1032/Plex Media Serudp 0 0 0.0.0.0:3838 0.0.0.0:* 1306/btsync-daemonudp 0 0 0.0.0.0:9999 0.0.0.0:* 1306/btsync-daemonudp 0 0 127.0.0.1:34818 0.0.0.0:* 1032/Plex Media Serudp 0 0 0.0.0.0:68 0.0.0.0:* 693/dhclient udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:39005 0.0.0.0:* 1070/rsyslogd udp 0 0 192.168.1.255:137 0.0.0.0:* 1313/nmbd udp 0 0 192.168.1.35:137 0.0.0.0:* 1313/nmbd udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:137 0.0.0.0:* 1313/nmbd udp 0 0 192.168.1.255:138 0.0.0.0:* 1313/nmbd udp 0 0 192.168.1.35:138 0.0.0.0:* 1313/nmbd udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:138 0.0.0.0:* 1313/nmbd udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:161 0.0.0.0:* 1483/snmpd udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:57964 0.0.0.0:* 1032/Plex Media Serudp 0 0 0.0.0.0:60151 0.0.0.0:* 693/dhclient udp6 0 0 :::41883 :::* 1147/avahi-daemon: udp6 0 0 :::5353 :::* 1147/avahi-daemon: udp6 0 0 :::62219 :::* 693/dhclient top - 20:13:32 up 1:13, 1 user, load average: 0.13, 0.21, 0.77Tasks: 152 total, 2 running, 150 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie%Cpu(s): 2.4 us, 0.4 sy, 0.0 ni, 97.2 id, 0.0 wa, 0.0 hi, 0.0 si, 0.0 stKiB Mem: 4048528 total, 3919156 used, 129372 free, 746028 buffersKiB Swap: 2097148 total, 9040 used, 2088108 free, 1695756 cached PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 1306 root 20 0 977m 490m 2700 S 67.5 12.4 24:55.49 btsync-daemon 1 root 20 0 42832 1876 1004 S 0.0 0.0 0:03.54 init 2 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.01 kthreadd 3 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:19.76 ksoftirqd/0 4 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.00 kworker/0:0 5 root 0 -20 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.00 kworker/0:0H 7 root rt 0 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.54 migration/0 8 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.00 rcu_bh 9 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.00 rcuob/0 10 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.00 rcuob/1 11 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.00 rcuob/2 12 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:12.59 rcu_sched 13 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:02.25 rcuos/0 14 root 20 0 0 0 0 R 0.0 0.0 0:02.51 rcuos/1 15 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:03.00 rcuos/2 16 root rt 0 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:02.25 watchdog/0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
GreatMarko Posted March 23, 2014 Report Share Posted March 23, 2014 1.2.67 is quite an old build - do you still get similar speed results if you use the latest build? In relation to "improving speed" - check out "How can I improve sync/transfer speed?" in the Unofficial FAQ. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
keamas Posted March 23, 2014 Author Report Share Posted March 23, 2014 Hi,in the Web GUI btsync says me Version 1.2.67 ( up to date ). But I tried to update it again in the CLI by doing the following steps:like here: http://forum.bittorrent.com/topic/18974-debian-and-ubuntu-server-unofficial-packages-for-bittorrent-sync/sudo sh -c "$(curl -fsSL http://debian.yeasoft.net/add-btsync-repository.sh)"sudo apt-get updatesudo apt-get install btsyncsudo dpkg-reconfigure btsyncBut the Web GUI still shows me the same version and it is still so slow syncing... even after a reboot... tuxpoldo Posted March 23, 2014 Report Share Posted March 23, 2014 I would say, that you connect to a web ui of a btsync that is definitively not the one installed from the repository. Please enter the following commands and post the output here. Let's see if we find a solution... dpkg -l | grep btsyncps ax | grep btsyncp.s.: as everybody can see, the repository hosts the latest officially released version: http://debian.yeasoft.net/btsync/pool/main/b/btsync-common/ Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Sl 109:04 /usr/lib/btsync/btsync-daemon --nodaemon --config /etc/btsync/debconf-default.conf 5274 pts/0 R+ 0:00 grep --color=auto btsync OK - You are not using the packages from my repository. This guy eugenesan forked many months ago a very very old version of my packages but then he never kept them up to date. But you can fix it: Look into the directory /etc/apt/sources.list.d - there you will find some files. Look into the files. and search for a file containing the follwowing lines:deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/eugenesan/ppa/ubuntu saucy maindeb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/eugenesan/ppa/ubuntu saucy main Delete this file. Then you have to resync the package list and also to delete the installed btsync package. After that you can reinstall it: sudo apt-get updatesudo apt-get remove btsyncsudo apt-get install btsync Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
keamas Posted March 24, 2014 Author Report Share Posted March 24, 2014 Hi,ok now the version is up to date:ladmin@kif:~$ dpkg -l | grep btsyncii btsync 1.2.3-2 all Private network P2P file synchronisation daemon(s)ii btsync-common 1.2.92-2 amd64 Private network P2P file synchronisation daemonladmin@kif:~$ ps ax | grep btsync11554 ? Sl 1:52 /usr/lib/btsync/btsync-daemon --nodaemon --log file --config /etc/btsync/debconf-default.conf11813 pts/1 S+ 0:00 grep --color=auto btsyncVersion 1.2.92 ( up to date ) but the speed is still slow:64.7 kB/s up, 306.9 kB/s down Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
RomanZ Posted March 25, 2014 Report Share Posted March 25, 2014 keamas, What kind of files do you sync? What is the amount of files / folders and their volume? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
keamas Posted March 25, 2014 Author Report Share Posted March 25, 2014 The Sync folder has about 300GB and containing big files like 1 GB files. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
RomanZ Posted March 26, 2014 Report Share Posted March 26, 2014 keamas, it means that issue is not in re-opening connections for tons of small files. I can only guess about ISP throttling the traffic. Can you test yesterday released 1.3 version of BTSync? It uses TCP connection instead of UDP, so it might improve speed significantly if issues was in UDP traffic and / or make it more complex to throttle for ISP.
