oshmoz
Hello, I'm trying to sync a folder between my PC and android phone on the same LAN. After I set up the android I get the "indexing" status for a long time without any actual syncing. The folder is 8GB with around 800 files. How long does this kind of operation should take and can you add some sort of progress report? Thanks, oshmoz. RomanZ
@oshmoz I've made a test on Galaxy S2 - it took around 1min to index ~1gig file. Of course, it hardly depends on what hardware your phone uses.
oshmoz
Thank you for your quick reply.I also have Galaxy S2. So I guess that for 8GB of files it should be around 8 min? I'll give it another try, oshmoz.
RomanZ
@oshmozI used internal memory for test (extSD card might be different depending on speed class). So if you use also internal memory - yep, it should be around 8 minutes.
oshmoz
Important comment since I use extSD card (class 4). Can you please rerun the test on your extSD card? That would help me alot. Thanks again, oshmoz. P.S.Do you know about some way to track the progress of the indexing?
RomanZ
@oshmozIt took me around 42 seconds to index 0.5 gig on Class10 ExtSD card. Sorry - I have no other memory cards in my lab.
oshmoz
Thanks for the effort. So, if it take 42 seconds to index 0.5 GB on class 10, it should take 105 seconds to index 0.5 GB on class 4. And for 8 GB is should take 1680 second, which means 28 minutes. Well, I guess I will let it work during the night (while connected to the charger). oshmoz. oshmoz
Sorry for bumping, but I had to index my files again and it takes longer (much more) than hour. Please add a progress bar or similar feature in the next version. I'm not sure it's even working, can you point me to the file that contain the indexes? I can check and see if this file changes. Thanks, oshmoz.
Jayjayel
*bump* I'm having a similar issue. Over 30 min indexing one 11GB file, no progress indicators. I have no idea how much longer this is going to take, I need to work on that file on another machine soon...
Helen
Jayjayel, On what device it happens, what Sync version, what is this file? Is it being used and ? If yes, then Sync won't be able to index and sync it. If it persists, please send the debug log from this deice to support for analysis.
