I have never been able to get Resilio to work on Fedora 30, I am running Fedora 29 in all PCs since my operation depends on Resilio.

Which binary do you try to run on your fedora 30? i386 or x64? What is arch of your fedora 30?

Run the following commands and send the output:

    uname -m

    ldd --version

Can you direct me somewhere I can read more about threading?

To get started you can read for example this.

Or what status "Ssl" means (sleeping?) / "Dsl" status = running?

You can learn what every column and parameter (in ps command output) means using ps official man pages which are available via

    man ps

command in linux or online as well. So the mentioned flags mean:

S    interruptible sleep (waiting for an event to complete)

    D    uninterruptible sleep (usually IO)

    s    is a session leader

l    is multi-threaded (using CLONE_THREAD, like NPTL pthreads do)

To learn more about threads/processes life-cycle you can read this article (to figure out what "sleeping" and other specific terms mean).

    Thank you for help

No, you don't need root permissions to view list of processes. Looks like resource monitor shows threads instead of processes. You can use -m parameter for ps command to see all threads which belong to a process:

    ps auxm

Result from my linux PC is attached. As you can see there is one main thread with 2784 id and several child threads and only one rslsync process the shown threads belong to. So this is just the process monitor issue in your case.

I'd like to upgrade - when will the LInux package lists (http://linux-packages.resilio.com/resilio-sync/deb) be updated?

It will be updated when 2.6.0 version is released, no ETA unfortunately. Provided build 2.6.0.1298 is just a release candidate for community testing only.

I just updated from 2.5.7 to 2.5.9 and now Resilio says I'm a business user and wants me to buy a license for all my computes. I'm not a business user. I purchased pro a couple years ago, but didn't need the selective sync. I am unable to use Resilio now. How do I downgrade?

    Please advise.

I also tried downloading the free version and re-installing. Still no luck. Unable to launch Resilio. Thx.

    Please send feedback to support.

I never had to configure anything, yet it was working for all versions so far. It stopped just now. It's even not consistent. Sometimes the devices can see one other device, but in general not. Also an 2.4.5 notebook could connect to the 2.5.0 notebook without problems. Didn't try 2.5.0 <-> 2.5.0 between notebooks yet.

Hello. Yes, we know about this issue and working on it now.

I'm looking for something that can sync multiple internal & external HDD's on one computer to multiple internal & external HDD's on another computer over the internet.

Sure, Sync is able to do this. Instruction is here.

BTW, any plans to port Resilio to Android?  More specifically, the Nvidia Shield Android TV device?

Sync is available for almost all platforms including Android: Google Play

    Thank you.

So, just to make sure... sync is limited to folders on the same drive letter?  Resilio cannot sync multiple folders on multiple drives?

No, there is no any folder limit if you sync folders among different devices. Let me clarify. I told about multiple external hard drives connected to the same device (computer). The thing is that many users want to synchronize files/folders among drives (internal or external) which are connected to the same computer in order to automate their workflows. Sync doesn't allow to do that. It will not permit you to synchronize one folder location on your computer to another location on this computer (even if these location are on different drives). Our products are being developed to synchronize files/folders among different devices.

    Hope my explanation is clear.

    Happy syncing!

Let's say you have many duplicated files in different paths of your sync folder, current behaviour seems like Resilio is transferring each of them on wire to the peers unnecessarily. It could be just a local copy operation in peers.

    Am i missing something?

Sync considers these files as different files because they have different paths on your OS, and thus it transfers them among peers. There is no an option that allows to track duplicated files and to copy them locally.

In what case would I want to do sudo systemctl enable resilio-sync vs systemctl --user enable resilio-sync I don't understand what the advantage over the other is and what is supposed to be "best practice"?

If you need to run Sync under your current user instead of under "rslsync" user - you need to use --user parameter. Hard to say what is the best practice because it depends on your needs. But actually it's more convenient to run Sync under your current user.

And am I supposed to run sudo systemctl enable resilio-sync as the user rslsync or as root?

You need to run systemctl enable resilio-sync as root.

I'm having a very frustrating problem.

I bought the Pro version, and that's working well with my devices.

I installed Resilio Sync on my cousin's computer to share some files. But the devices only see each other when I go over to her house and connect my phone to her Wifi. The same with her son's phone and a different folder.

    That's one.

    Number Two.

My mother lives on a different state, and over the phone we created a folder and linked it. Same problem, nothing.

The settings seems to be fine. "Use relay servers when required," that's checked. "Use tracker server" checked. And I tried checking and unchecking "Search LAN."

To get Sync to work you need to open and forward all required ports through all routers/firewalls/etc. So looks like your peers cannot connect to each other because these ports are blocked.

Will disabling journaling increase or decrease the general performance of Sync?

Technically yes, it will increase, but it may be not visible for your eye.

    On 12/24/2016 at 7:40 PM, M-Pixel said:

Apart from disk space, does it increase or decrease system resource usage? (CPU/RAM/IO)

    Yes, it should decrease.

Does disabling it increase the likelihood of file conflicts?

No, these things are not associated with each other.

    Hi all,

I am individual user who wants to sync files between mobile and laptop basically as backup and sync basically I am looking something like Itunes for Android.

I came upon this resilio and tried installing in my laptop which is prompting for username and password.

I am not suree on how to proceed further. Please help.

If it's a system UAC (user access control) - you just need to enter admin username and password to allow installing Sync on this PC.

Will Resilio sync those files even if the device that originally sent the invitation link to sync is offline (let's call this the originating device)?

Yes, two peers are enough to use Sync since it utilizes the peer2peer technology.

    15 hours ago, LisaK said:

Or will everything have to pass through the originating device before being propogated to the remote devices?

    No.

    15 hours ago, LisaK said:

Once I'm a paid Pro license holder, will Resilio associate all my computers as being part of the same license?

Yes, that's called "My devices" mode.

    15 hours ago, LisaK said:

Or will the program continue to function as it does now, seemingly treating all of my computers as unrelated but synced?

Sync allows to share folders among licensed and non-licensed devices with some limitations.

    Hello,

I have sync running on a windows laptop which travels between my home WiFi network and my work WiFi network. The laptop sleeps in between those.

What I observe is that when the laptop wakes up from sleep and connects to a different network than it was last connected to, sync does not find any peers unless the app is closed and started again. At which point the new peers appear instantly.

I am using LAN only sync (tracker and relay turned off). I am using Sync Pro.

Is there a way to improve this? I think the app should automatically re-scan for peers on the LAN when the IP address changes or the network name changes.

    Hello,

We had some issues in old version of the app, but Sync 2.4.2 has no such issues and it should track these changes. Which version do you use on your computers? If it's not 2.4.2, please update Sync on both peers. If the issues still persists after upgrading the app - please reproduce it again and then collect debug logs on both peers and then submit to us, also specify time when the test was performed to find the corresponding time in the logs.
