That is good, now how do I do it. I see no choice on the image I attached . Do you know how? And will it change the name of the file on my other Mac as well. Thank you I appreciate your help.

Just rename folder on your hard drive and Sync will track this and change name of this folder in it's UI. Names of files won't be changed.

Is there still a way to determine if a connection is being made via Direct as opposed to via Internet/Relay? I gather that in the past there were icons that indicated this, but I'm not clear on where I would be seeing those if they are in fact present. In my Peers list I don't see any icons currently.

Yes, you're right. The latest version of the app has the corresponding icon too. And the icon is in a peer list of a shared folder (there can be many peers and connection can be direct or relayed for each peer) as in old version of the app. If you don't see it - there is a direct connection among your peers:

My Peers are reachable via a VPN connection, and so in theory should get treated as Local (which is what I want). However, sometimes the VPN goes down. During that time I assume that Resilio will switch to connecting via the Internet/Relay (as I've currently allowed for that in my settings). What I'm wondering is, will Resilio periodically try again to connect via Local/Direct? My preference is that it would switch back to Local/Direct as soon as Local is available again, but I'm wondering if it is built to (or if there is a way to configure it to) automatically do that? Note that I am okay with it connecting via Internet/Relay temporarily -- I just want it to revert to Local/Direct and give preference to that when possible (ie, I don't want to it switch to Internet and then never switch back to Local/Direct).

Actually it should track it. Can you try to use Sync as you wish and if there is an issue with switching back to Local/Direct when VPN is down - contact support to figure and fix it out?

What I did was created a sub folder called “Profile” then moved all my user folders like “My Documents” and “Desktop” into that “Profile” sub folder.  Then I just synced the “Profile” folder.  If you do that on all the systems, the users profile will sync across all computers without the AppData folder.

Yes, this workaround is correct as well.

The key for a resilio sync folder is obtained to a third party. Can he sync the folder? How can I prevent this from happening. Can I add some devices as trusted and share only to them?

Yes he can sync if it's a shared key generated for a standard folder. But if you use advanced folders (Trial or Pro versions of the app) - you can check the box "All peers I invite must be approved by me" while generating a shared link and thus you can prevent connecting untrusted peers (by ensuring access for trusted peers only).

The Sync name is always the name last folder in the path.  I would appreciate the ability to name it something different.

    Example

    Backup\folder\Sync

Normally named 'Sync' but would rather call the job 'Backup-Sync'

Yes, we are aware of such feature request. It will be implemented in the future versions of the app, but no exact ETA.

this reason is "links  will expire in 3 days" ?

    No, that isn't that reason.

I find the folder's status is "can not identify the destination folder", also the .sync folder has no "ID" file

"the .sync folder has no "ID" file" - this is the reason of "can not identify the destination folder" issue. Looks like this file was removed by some reason. Now you can do the following: either copy this file into .sync from the corresponding shared folder on another peer or just remove this folder from Sync and re-add again (do the same on all other peers as well).

Is there maybe a way to combine the devices management feature with requiring to explicitly sharing folders before being able to see or access them?

You can only use different identities on each device and check the "New peer I invite must be approved by me" box in the share dialog while generating a shared link for every folder you would like to share. There are no other ways.

I have a Desktop PC syncing certain folders both ways with a Laptop PC in another part of the house via wired/wireless LAN.  The Desktop PC also syncs folders with some remote PC's via Internet. Sometimes I switch to a VPN on my Desktop system and when I do that the remote PC's reconnect within a few minutes but the Laptop folders do not.  I have - Use Relay server when required; Use tracker server and Search LAN all selected on the Laptop/PC folder preferences.  After disconnecting from my VPN the Laptop/PC folders remain "offline" and the only way to reestablish the connection is to either exit Resilio Sync and restart it or disconnect each folder individually and then select connect after pointing to the correct path.  What setting or settings might I have wrong to create this behavior?

Please contact support directly to troubleshoot the issue and find out the reason.

    Hello,

I am interested in the workgroup product, to replace the soon defunct Logitech cubby product.

Just purchased a workgroup license for testing, and have some questions.

Our office has a central server, with specific data directories synced to user notebook directories for office and field work.

Additionally several users have both notebooks and home desktops that also sync to the same directory on the central server.

I am confused about "ID" and license for the server and user device installations.

ID admin, for server, enter license, 2 seats available.

ID user1, for first user, separate license, 2 seats available, second seat used for user1 second device? or can user1 have two devices, how to configure with single license?

I found article about linking under Pro, does this apply to workgroup?

    Thanks for your recommendations.

There is the following workflow. Each user (person) has to have his own license seat you need to share with him. Additionally, every user can link unlimited number of his own devices to his identity (every user has different identity and different license (license ID) that makes his device activated). Thus, you have N users (including you as a "master" user i.e. a license owner), N license seats under your license and every user (you shared a license seat with) has desired number of his own devices linked to his identity and thus licensed.

I am not sure if put this thread here is right.

There are lots of share keys(not links) for Resilio Sync, I found it was a bit annoying to add them by "enter key" in the APP. I am wondering if there is a global shortcut for calling out the blank for "enter key" or is there a popclip extention/Aflred Workflow to make that happen?

No, unfortunately Sync has no such options.

Seems like it takes some time to detect changes in folder. Thanks.

    Hello,

There are two ways to track file changes in a shared folder: notifications from OS and re-scanning a shared folder. The first ways works immediately, but if there is an error in OS it may not work at all. The second way always works and it can be set up in Power User Preferences, the option is called "folder_rescan_interval" that's 600 sec by default.

    Hello!

I have a question about how this scheduler works CPU wise. I don't have pro but you have a reasonably priced promotion at the moment and I like the idea of scheduled sync. But what I want to know is if this function affects CPU load. Will Sync still be active, monitoring changes, scanning folders etc or will all that activity happen exclusively during scheduled sync time?

    Hello,

There is just synchronization speed limitation during scheduled sync time.

  13. Hi,

Try to disable Tracker and Relay options for shared folders. Details are here.

Also note, transfer speed cannot be higher than disk reading speed on a sending peer and writing speed on a receiving peer (so I advice you to check this out).

General guides "How to improve transfer speed" are here and here.

If you use WiFi connection please note: connection speed depends on usage of your WiFi channel by other routers.
