When I hover over the folder, I get a list of stuff at the bottom including a selective sync link which does nothing, on which appears to synchronize the folder in full, and off which, so far as I understand it, is what enables the placeholder files.
No, the thing is that if ''Selective sync" toggle is ON, then in this case you have selective synchronization and .bts placeholder files instead of real files. If it's ON, but .bts files don't appear on a receiving peer, please contact us via Help Center and provide us with full debug logs from both peers (please collect logs on both devices after reproducing the described situation).

No, there is no problem with your identity. The thing is that your Sync user doesn't have file system permissions to write to these folders. You can set up necessary permissions using chmod command.
-
They are hidden on the Android client and you cannot set them up.

We have received your ticket via Help Center so let's continue our discussion there

You're welcome! Happy syncing!

Hello,
1. IgnorList is a per device and per a shared folder service file, i.e. it is configured for each device and for each shared folder separately. It's necessary to restart the app on a device to use updated ignore list. Also note that since it's a per device and a per shared folder file, Sync doesn't transfer it among your peers.
2. Yes, restart the app to apply updated ignore list.
3. No.
4. No.
5. Yes.
6. No, Sync will not synchronize a ignore list from this PC to another peer.

Right? In the future, expect to also turn pro folders for encryption mechanism?
Unfortunately we have no such plans at present.

What was the problem?
This is the issue with Sync, but not all users can encounter it. Please contact us via Help Center http://help.getsync.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and we will send you test build with necessary fix.

This worked for me on Windows Server 2008 (so Vista 32 bit).
Also please note, if you are going to use Sync 2.* on your Win Vista or Win Server 2008 R1 then in this case you're are able to share your data using standard (1.4) folders only because these OSes doesn't have necessary SSL libraries for advanced (2.0) folders work.

Hello,
No, Sync doesn't allow to synchronize folders on the same computer. In order to use the app you need to have at least two peers (computers, NAS, tablets, etc..).
-
Yes, we know about such need of our users.
-
Tried it, exit and relaunch does indeed starts indexing. Was hoping more along the line of a command line or button to press.
Unfortunately Sync has no such possibility. You can only set up rescan interval or restart the app by manually to force it to rescan.

The correct syntax of the config file is the following
,"peer_expiration_days" : 9999,"disk_low_priority" : false} -
Thank you for your feedback. We have received it. Please let's continue our discussion in Zendesk.

Your personal information doesn't pass through other servers, your data is sent to another peer directly over your WiFi subnet.
