acffordyce973
I was trying to Sync a folder on my Android which I have syncing between several computers. Due to having the Web UI on one of them, I connected and copied the key (e.g. https://link.getsync.com/#f=##############). Sync accepted the key and the add dialogue disappeared, but the folder was not added. This was tried several times, to no avail. I eventually got to a computer and added via the QR Code. Is this intended, or a bug?Phone: Nexus 5Android version: 4.4.4Sync version: 1.4.50 Edited October 6, 2014 by acffordyce973
snlehton
I saw this happening too. For me, BTSync wouldn't scan the QR code, so I used Barcode Scanner to scan the code to get the link, and the link opened BTSync, but no folder was added in the end. I had to get the key from desktop, send it to myself using mail, copy it from the mail on Android and then paste it to the BTSync... not that convinient (BTSync version 1.4.56.0)
RomanZ
@snlehtonDoes it still reproduce so we can attempt debugging?
acffordyce973
This can still be reproduced, although it says "Unknown Error" instead of just disappearing now.
RomanZ
@acffordyce973 Could you provide couple of screenshots? As I understand you got a folder on Android Nexus tablet, share it it, open webUI of your computer's Sync on Nexus, paste the link there and got your "Unknown error"? On the phone, I tap on the Add Folder at the top right, tap "Enter a Key" then paste the key url where it says "If you have received a key, paste it here:". Upon doing this, selecting a folder, then tapping "Add folder" an "Unknown Error" toast appears.
Helen
acffordyce973, 'Enter key' option is for entering keys (AGFR2....2W or BEWR..5R, for example), not links ( https://link.getsync.....). Sync expects to key a key in field "If you have received a key, paste it here:", so after you put link there, Sync doesn't understand what it is. If you what to use shared links, please open them in a browser on your phone. Please, do not confuse keys and links Keys start with letter A or B and have 33 symbols, links...well, they are links - https://link.getsync.... - very long links. acffordyce973
acffordyce973, If you what to use shared links, please open them in a browser on your phone. Doing this sends me to a page where it tells me to get Sync 1.4. Upon tapping "I already have Sync 1.4" it opens Sync on Android and still does NOTHING. Also, the only way to add a folder on Android appears to be by QR and key, however the WebUI only gives QR and link. You can see why someone would try and add via the link. Not exactly useful if the Android App is limited to one option since keys aren't exactly used any more.It should be noted that I also asked "Is this intended, or a bug?" RomanZ
@acffordyce9731) Can you please try to shut down sync and try clicking link again?2) If it does not help - please try to convert whole link to QR code (there are a plenty of websites) and try to scan it with Sync and see if it will work

Upon clicking this, Sync opens but no folder appeared. However, I received a notification saying the request was approved which was then followed by the app freezing and Android saying "Sync is not responding would you like to close". Second time, the folder appeared, however there was no approval message and AGAIN the app froze and Android wanted to close Sync (for holding the UI Thread I bet). I've tried this several times with the same outcome, sync being force closed.2) How am I supposed to Scan the QR code if I only have my mobile device on me?
