Removed Folder By Mistake That I Am Owner

Hi.. been using BT Sync a few months now.. bought Pro while waiting for 2.2 to come out on NAS to have more than 10 folders.

 

Anyway.. 

 

I am a owner of a folder, with a few peers as read-only, and maybe one other peer as read-write, no other owners..

 

Some how on NAS Web GUI I managed to remove a folder from my identity (I was trying to disconnect the folder on that NAS), the change sync'ed to all other devices.. and I've now left that folder! How can I regain ownership and rejoin the folder?

 

Please any ideas?

Well, if there are no other peers with Owner access, then just add the folder back to Sync on NAS, and share the new link with other peers.

Not designed, simply. There were some talks and requests on adding that and other information to History, so perhaps in future releases this will be implemented. Will be considered. Thank you.

Indded, there was no other option than to start over and make a new folder and share the link out to users. Not ideal.

 

I beleive the issue happened because I double clicked in the wrong place, instead of disconect I deleted. Another warning/confirm screen when deleting folders could be useful.

 

I think the only protection I can do for this is to create a second identity that I give owner to for all my folders.

 

Joining/leaving/removing a folder is a big event, not something that happens every day, it should be in the 

history log in my option for sure.

I did the same thing basically, except in Windows client. I was getting indexing errors on a folder which is not the first time and super annoying (Sync 2.3.6). I had no choice but to remove the folder from BTSync and then re-add it. Problem is I was the only owner with just read/write and read-only peers. I can see no way to reconnect again.

This was not a problem with the old Sync1 folders where I could store the "master" key as text somewhere safe.

If you were the only Owner of advanced folder, and removed it from your Sync, add it back and share the new link to it with others. Pf course, you will also need to remove the shared from others' Sync so as to add it again with the new link. 

This is how advanced folders work - they rely on certificates and ACL. Standard folders (based on v1.4.) rely on keys, thus that was not the case and you could easily use the key again.
