Files now have 0 bytes

I have some file directories syncing between three computers (2-windows 10 and one linux (Lubuntu))

I have one directory where most of the files and all of the files in 2 subdirectories all now show as 0 bytes on all three computers and will not open. As far as I know, all of the files were fine last week. All of the files and folders show the same file date/time (11/4/2018 5:30 PM)

Does anyone have any idea what could have happened and, more important, is there any way to recover the files?

Thanks
