  1. j_s,

Roman means that the edited syncignore should be already present in the folder for BitTorrent Sync to catch up the ignored files and not index and sync them: add a folder to Sync so that a fresh SyncIgnore is generated, edit SyncIgnore as you need, delete the folder from BitTorrent Sync (edited SyncIgnore will remain), and add the folder back to BitTorrent Sync so that it could index the files taking into account the ignore list.

So, for you readding the folder with already edited syncignore will be a solution, yes.

  2. drjones,

Sync backs up only those files that are in Camera Roll. Do all your saved from internet and freshly taken photos get to Camera Roll directly?

Does the amount of files increases accordingly in backup UI on iOS?

As a quick solution you may restart backup itself (disable it in Sync settings and enable again). Share the new secret with your other devices. All photos is camera Roll will be uploaded.

And also, please, write to syncapp@bittorrent.com.

    1) Mention this forum topic in message,

    2) and please provide answers to the asked questions.

    3) and finally, attach debug logs from any of the other peers where you backup photos to. Thank you.

I'd like to look closer into this case. Thanks.

  3. @mcit,

That issue with Cache folder is known to us and it will be fixed in future releases.

As for starting with setup, check the following things to be present :
    1) Reg key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BitTorrent\Sync] "Revision"=dword:103006a (for 1.3.106)

    2) settings.dat and settings.dat.old are present in %Appdata%\BitTorrent Sync

Does one of the users also log in on WinServer as roaming or local user?

  4. @IrishGodfather,

Still haven't received any logs from you. So far I assume that the files on your RO peer have been changed. In this case the peer with full access secret will show the corresponding amount of files to be uploaded.

To get rid of the queue, on the read-only peer open folder settings in BitTorrent Sync and enable "Restore modified files to original version". With this option enabled, if a file is changed on the RO peer, the older version of the file will be downloaded from Full-access peer to RO peer replacing the changed file. If on RO peer file had its name changed, Full-access peer will send the file with previous name, and two files (with changed and old name) will be present on the RO peer.

If it's not your case, collect logs and send it to me (as RomanZ suggested) and provide the following details: where you see the queue (mac or win?) and is it saying upload or download? Thanks.

  5. ChrisFPol,

Cloud icon shouldn't indicate that devices are in different netwroks. Cloud icon means that they are connected via relay server (not directly). In your case two arrows mean that they are conencted directly, which is good.

As for speed, first of all check UPnP port mapping on all BitTorrent Sync clients on all peers and in routers on all ends. Also check firewalls on devices themselves and on routers. They may be blocking it.

  6. Tommmii,

Did you change limits to ">1300" after you tested 1-1300 without quitting BitTorrent Sync? If yes, try restarting the app after you changed limits.

    spYro,

not exactly. As it is enabled relay server in folder settings doesn't makes difference. It's the way devices are connected that matters.

If they are connected directly (Tommmii has direct connection, as he said "arrows in front of device in devices tab"), limits are honored.

If they are connected via relay (cloud icon on tab 'Devices" instead of arrows) limits are not honored. And yes, this is a known issue.

  7. MrCamaleo,

    Please collect

    1) BitTorrent Sync crash report from~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/ (latest ones)

    2) Keep debug logging enabled and collect them from ~Library/Application Support/BitTorrent Sync (sync.log and sync.log.old) after crash

    3) in the same folder (~Library/Application Support/BitTorrent Sync) collect .dmp files (latest ones)

and send these all to syncapp@bittorrent.com. Please, put link to this topic in the message .Thanks!

  8. beo6,

You delete the subfolders on the read-only Windows and then they are not synced again from Linux, right? If I understood you right, then it's normal behavior.

To have them synced back, open the folder settings in BitTorrent Sync on the R-O Windows  and enable "Restore modified files to original version". All the files and folder that were edited on the R-O peer, will be downloaded again to r-o peer.

And could you please tell us how you use selective sync on Windows?? What it this feature that you use?

  9. Ronen,

BitTorrent Sync detects files change and starts syncing it after the work on the files is completely over and BitTorrent Sync gets notification about it from the system. So, between user-click Close-'Do you want to save changes?'-Yes and BitTorrent Sync starting to sync some 10-15 (may be more, yes, depending on the app which saves a file) seconds pass. During these seconds the app saves the file and BitTorrent Sync receives notification

  10. JCKNichols,

just to be sure that all simple things are taken into account -

    1) haven't you run out of space on WCC?

    2) Which version of BitTorrent Sync you have installed?

    3) What is the 'Status' of the connection (see on 'Devices' tab)

Was anything changed is the system settings on both devices before you saw it happening?  Check you firewall on Win8, make sure that files are not locked from BitTorrent Sync on Mac.

  11. benplumley,

How many files do you have in these folders? Are these files big? What is your PC OS?

When BitTorrent startsб it reads info about synced folder/files from sync.dat file. Is sync.dat in your case available for BitTorrent Sync? It is located in:

    Windows: %APPDATA%\BitTorrent Sync\sync.log
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/BitTorrent Sync/sync.log
    Linux: ./sync/sync.log

Did you try re-adding the folders to BitTorrent Sync?
