Sync to NAS (D-Link DNS-320)

Recommended Posts

Hi - I have just found BitTorrent Sync and I am so happy!

My question is - am I able to set up a sync to my D-Link DNS-320 NAS from my computers?

I run a Toshiba A500 Laptop as a "main computer", doing a lot of computing work at home. I have a second Toshiba P850 Laptop as my "travelling" computer - which I take on-site for business.

I would like to sync both Laptops to the NAS to provide a single source of files generated off both those laptops.

I read the posting entitled Supported NAS (01 Feb 2013) but I don't understand most of what's posted.

To be clear - I only want to sync from the Laptops to the NAS one way.

Thanks in advance for any responses!

You mut use Fun Plug, log with SSH and

wget http://btsync.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/btsync_arm.tar.gz

tar zxvf btsync_arm.tar.gz

chmod u+x btsync

./btsync

After WebUI can be accessed by default at YourLocalIP:8888/gui (read FAQ for more details)

hakkas, you are awesome!!!

I use PuTTY for my Linux interface and am running funplug already. copied in your command lines 1 by 1 which downloaded and started bittorrent sync. my DNS-320 is on reserved internal IP and was able to access the interface via port 8888.

For OP, to install FunPlug you have to basically crack your DNS-320, as the manufacturer didn't intend for users to run Linux command line (needed to install additional applications like bittorrent sync). I used used these instructions (or use hakkas, i'm sure they're similar) to install fun plug. I never worked with Linux prior in my life...so I have confidence you can do it too.

However, one additional configuration is that you will/should go into you're router settings and reserve an internal IP for your DNS-320 so you can access BTSync by opening your browser window and putting this in the address bar:

192.168.1.4:8888/gui <--- note my reserved internal IP for DNS-320 is 192.168.1.4

Thank you Hakkas !!! That works very well with my D-link DNS-320/funplug 0.7 !

But as soon as I switch off my D-link, BT Sync disapear ! (I'm sorry for my bad English, I'm French ^^)

I explain :

Case 1 : I switch off my D-link for moving it, when I turned on again, I have to do the installation of BTsync again.

Case 2 : Powerloss. When I turned on again, I have to do the installation of BTsync again.

Have you a line to make BTSync "persistant" or something like that ?

i managed to install it following the info on this post , thank you. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to share files out of funplug folder? Btsync will not display Volume1 folder , only the folders in funplug...

-----------------------

If you search in the forlders of funplug, somewhere you will have "HD_A" or something like that. That represents "Volume 1" and "Volume 2" (I'll look tonight when I go home). So with that you can put your files in the ajax folder and share it to everyone.

I'm afraid the link for the download is not in use anymore. http://btsync.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/btsync_arm.tar.gz

Does someone know what link can it be downloaded from?

http://download-new.utorrent.com/endpoint/btsync/os/linux-arm/track/stable

(You'll find download links for this and other supported OS's via the official download page)
