boistordu
hi it seems that even if I specify a port in listening port it chooses random port and each time I reopen the Window of préférences, it has choosen a new port in listening port
GreatMarko
Whenever you install Sync (or perform a manual upgrade), it picks a new random port to use. It shouldn't do this every time you open the UI, however - What OS are you running?
boistordu
i know it shouldn't but it does and on two of my computers. Windows 8.
GreatMarko
Ok, and what version of Sync are you running? (a newer build, 1.4.82 was released just a few hours ago) UPDATE: There does indeed appear to be an issue changing ports in 1.4.82 - please see this post. boistordu
okey so I need to wait an update i guess
GreatMarko
okey so I need to wait an update i guess I'm afraid so - or alternatively, run Sync with a config file and specify a fixed "listening_port" there
boistordu
should be simple if they just kept the same process than on linux with a sync.conf by default or something
Ted
There seems to be an issue not only with the port number, but other settings as well (Windows 1.4.83, haven't checked with older versions). For example: 1) Open Preferences2) Check "Limit sending rate to", input 10003) Close Preferences4) Open it again, "limit sending rate" is unchecked, new random port number is chosen

drego85
You will do!! - it's a known issue - please see my previous post Thanks! Can I donate for this project?
GreatMarko
Can I donate for this project? Not at this time - Sync is a completely free product for personal use or non-commercial use within a business environment. However, an "Enterprise" edition of Sync is currently in development, which will likely take the form of some kind paid/subscription offering, and so that could be one way you could support the project financially in the future. On a side note, the developers of some of the various "unofficial" packages for Sync that have been contributed by the community - such as the popular packages for Ubuntu/Debian by forum regular, tuxpoldo - do have ways you can donate to their unofficial Sync projects. Check out their forum signatures for details. Whilst your donation wouldn't be supporting Sync directly, it would be supporting those members of the community who put in a lot of time/work into making their own unofficial packages for Sync available to the Sync community.
