VelvetLounger
I have a machine that I have to keep Snow Leopard on so that I can have access to videos created with Final Cut Express. I also use this machine as a backup for aprox 4 TB of photos using Bittorrent Sync. Without checking version requirements I upgraded Bittorrent Sync on the Snow Leopard machine to the latest version and I now realize that it will not work. Is it possible to reinstall version 1.4.111 and have all my synch settings maintained? It would literally take months to resynch all that data. I don't want to try doing this till I hear back from the group. thanks very much Keir
VelvetLounger
I restored the BitTorrent Sync.app from Time Machine then restarted the computer. Looks like everything is working fine now. Downgrade tentatively successful.
GreatMarko
Information on how to correctly downgrade from 2.0 to 1.4 may be found in the Help Center article, How to downgrade from 2.0 to 1.
Jonnan001
The steps in the article seem to . . . utterly fail to restore my folders? I really like BTSync, and you have every right to monetize this. But while $40 a year may be worthwhile for the extra features in Pro, I suspect I'm not alone in being willing to put in more than $40 worth of work to *not* upgrade when the 'upgrade' involves losing already functional features. That is an emotional reaction, but my experience with 2.0 has sucked a lot of the joy out of being a fanboy for BTsync. BTSync 1.4 - cuz I'm still 70% of a fanboy? dtr
Works for me (OSX 10.8.5). Though really a pity Sync 2 doesn't run on this anymore.
hdpixel
I am using an old mac running OS X Mavericks to keep my synch folders backed up. The BTSync 1.4 app. recommended to upgrade and then when I tried to run BTSync 2.x, it reported that my OS X was not compatible. This is really irritating. Then, I find out that that 2.x has limitations and it cost money to upgrade and use the newer features. I am officially looking into a switch strategy and away from BTSync. Btw, thank you for the guide on downgrading from 2.x to 1.4: http://help.getsync.com/customer/portal/articles/1901257 Bye BTSync team. krtaylor
Looks like the links to the downgrade guide are invalid. Can you post an update to the current location?
Gane O'dwyer
@krtaylor what is your device OS?
krtaylor
Windows 10. Actually I'm still unsuccessfully trying to get it to upgrade from BTS 1.4.111 to Resilio Sync, but I do want to make sure I can downgrade it again if I need to. Not sure if this is the correct instructions, as it's pretty old: https://web.archive.org/web/20150916171623/http://help.getsync.com/customer/portal/articles/1901257
Gane O'dwyer
@krtaylor Yes, such description was added in our KB previously but I want to mentioned once again that we disn't test the downgrading process from Resilio to BitTorrent 1.4.111. You can try to do it but we do not garantee that it will work. We do not support 1.4.111 app version anymore.
