garrily
Yesterday, I bought a new individual license, downloaded the updated Sync 2.2 client, and installed it on my Mac running OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite. All attempts to open the application fail silently. I created a support ticket for the issue, and provided Console log messages.9/15/15 7:00:03.193 PM taskgated[98] no application identifier provided, can't use provisioning profiles [pid=24141]9/15/15 7:00:03.206 PM BitTorrent Sync[24141] WARNING: The Gestalt selector gestaltSystemVersion is returning 10.9.5 instead of 10.10.5. Because the application fails to run, I had to manually created the suggested debug.txt file. I again tried to open the application, and again it failed. Nothing new was written to the sync.log file. Nothing in ~/Library/Application\ Support/BitTorrent\ Sync/ was modified. Deleting and reinstalling the application did not help. The Support team seems clueless, considering they wanted me to perform actions that require the application to actually open in the first place. Anyone here have insight? kos13
@garrily Sync crashed, so debug logs won't help here. I hope you are using the latest build that is 2.2.1. If not, try to download it from the site. Follow the part how to create OS X dumps. When you will create the dump, you will need to send it to us. You could reply to this ticket with the link and reference to this post. http://help.getsync.com/customer/portal/articles/2100441 Thankskos
tom@tstrand.com
I have the same problem. OSX 10.10.5. Bittorrent Sync 2.2.2 Crash on start. No menubar item. The only thing in the Console file was a code signign 9/25/15 11:28:24.000 AM kernel[0]: CODE SIGNING: process 5183[CoreServicesUIAg]: rejecting invalid page at address 0x10f5e8000 from offset 0x0 in file "/Applications/BitTorrent Sync.app/Contents/MacOS/BitTorrent Sync" (cs_mtime:1443017887.0 == mtime:1443017887.0) (signed:1 validated:1 tainted:1 wpmapped:0 slid:0)
dyeazel
I have the same error as the OP: gestaltSystemVersion is returning 10.9.5 instead of 10.10.5 I looked at the instructions for getting log files, but there were none of the mentioned files in any of the folders. What's my next step?
Helen
dyeazel,That error is not critical. You mean that there is no sync.log file in /Users/ user_name/Library/Application Support/ BitTorrent Sync? Is there anything there at all? Pelase write to support and provide more details about the crash.
