Your PC does not have identity (SE_SM_NO_IDENTITY).

Forgot to mention, in Sync 2.0, API will not work with 2.0 folders. It means that the new folder will not be added until you create user identity on this PC. So in order to use API, you need to keep operating with 1.4 folder, so when "add_folder" define a key (otherwise a 2.0 folder will be prompted, which do not have keys and thus will not work) .

you can generate a new pair of keys by "get_secrets" call

Or you can finish the installation of Sync on your PC so that identity is created automatically.

  2. Xi4,

no,noting should be installed ahead. You just launch BitTorrenct_Sync.exe, in calls up a wizard, installs BTSync.exe and .dll in C:\Program Files\BitTorrent Sync (or whichever you choose) and a shortcut (if selected during install). Do you mean that in your case even wizard is not started?

Can you please write to sycnapp@bittorrent.com with all the detail on from where you launch it, where you install it, a few screenshots? Don't forget to put the link to this topic inside your mail so that I knew where it comes from. Thank you!

  3. VelvetLounger,

sure, have a nice trip :)

A little tip: try looking at Activity monitor on the peer where you see locked files and stopping the processes that might be using the files.

Also, this might be just a UI issue and even though there are no files locked, and all are correctly synced, UI will still say  you "X locked files"

  4. guido666,

    1. this is going to be fixed.

    2. there is no need to delete the share and add it again. You may just move the folder to another location on your machine (in a file manager) and Sync will recognize it and change the path automatically, so the folder will remain connected and synced with other peers.

If you are using a Windows machine, the folder shall be moved within one drive.

I just meant that there is no function to move the folder from inside Sync, but you can always do it in a file manager.

  5. b0rman,

    What Sync version is it?

[20150302 12:57:44.666] Blocked downloading file cache......html due Connection closed

means that the remote peer, instead of sending the file closed connection. Why? - need investigation. Perhaps, it's in use, or the filename is too long, or is incorrect, depending on the platform.

192.168.0.41:42314: did not pick any blocks. blocking peer temporarily

same for 188.***.211.***:46218, it's the contrary - the remote peer didn't pick up anything, so this peer blocked it for a while. Again, why - needs insights. Probably it's too busy with something. or cannot accept the files.

btw 188.***.211.***:46218 and 192.168.0.41:42314 - is it local/public IP of the same peer behind NAT?

    Incoming connection from .....

    result of the above two.

    Disconnect: Is seed

there is nothing to sync at the moment.

  6. I also have two other folders I am syncing in one direction that show up as Out Of Synch on the main machine, yet have a green circle on the backup machine.

Enable "overwrite any changed files" option on RO peer (your backup machine). These statuses (Out of sync vs Synced) appear if files were changed on RO peer.

Should I be using a different version of this software? Is there an official channel I can go to in order to get help on this?

yes, write to syncapp@bittorrent.com, put a link to this topic and say "for Helen" , and collect and attach logs from this mac by this instruction . Thank you!

  7. guido666,

    1. we know about this issue. Just to clarify -  "white folder" state is 'Connected state" (folder is connected and placeholders are created), 'dashed folder' is "Disconnected mode" with tooltip "Available" Unfortunately, there is no workaround for it in this Beta build. Option to disconnect the folder only from local devices is added later in newer build, not yet released for public. The fix itself will come out later. Sorry for the problem caused.

To answer your question: go to 'My devices" click on your device (local device) and change the mode.

    2. Keep debug logging enabled on your machines, if it happens again. please try to note what steps might have lead to it, and please send debug logs from all peers. tell us what exactly folder was removed.

    3. Thank you, we will consider adding this feature in Sync.

  8. Moved this topic to the relevant thread

    guido666,

Any specific details about platforms and versions of Sync?

    1) the mode name was changed from "Available" (in Alpha) to "Disconnected" (in Beta) on the contrary. Where exactly you see "Available" on Beta? These modes can be seen in Device's list - is it there?

    2) Wasn't there button "Cancel"? or X button in the corner of this dialog?

I cannot think of possible reasons why disconnection can be triggered without actually clicking "Disconnect" option. Do you remember the steps that led to it? Or try to notice it if it happens again.

    3) There is "Start Sync on startup" option in Sync preferences. Is it enabled? If yes, check if Sync's shortcut is placed in Startup folder (you may open it by Run-> shell:startup) or check HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\ key in Registry editor.

    4) Sync never had ability to change the path. You need to do it manually in your file system. Sync will recognize it, as long as you move the folder within one letter drive.

  9. I tried Customer Support after I could not find a similar issue in the forum. Apparently they no longer provide help, only to Pro and Ad-Free (not sure what that means).

Now Sync team provides support to everyone. There was some confusion and you've submitted your case to BitTorrent Client app, not to Sync app. Later, when it was figured out, you were informed about it and your ticket was redirected to Sync team and reply was provided.

  10. What's Keeping Me? then? Or command 'sudo lsof' in Mac's Terminal (actually What's keeping me? is the frontend for lsof).

Or nay other utility that you might like.

Also, if there is a chance to have files with "locked" flag (as can be set in a file's info), you may remove it with

    chflags -R nouchg /path/to/the/folder

note that in this case all flags in the folder and subfolders will be removed. So use it wisely if you need to preserve it for some files.

  11. phneutral,

"Plus" button in the lower right corner -> New backup and you will be able to pick backup location.

For adding sync folders, 'Simple mode' should be disabled in Sync preferences as in 1.4. Though there was a little problem with it, though a workaround was found: share the folder again from PC to phone via QR code.

All further discussions of Sync 2.0 should be done in the relevant thread
