Disappointed Cat
This will be a blooming business once encrypted nodes are implemented. If you can set up your own system then checkout Backupsy. It costs less than half of Incloudibly for the same storage and you'll also have a fully functioning VPS. Sure, it's not 'cloud' but you can just buy 2 at two locations if needed. I also use Backupsy, found them when they posted an offer on LEB. $7 a month for 500gb of storage was too good to pass up. Works great as a always on sync device. Imnotatroll
Do NOT use these expensive alternativesYou can get a dedicated server for $5 per month with a 500 GB drive. If you need over 500 GB then choose a higher one.Just get a cheap dedicated server:www.ovh.co.ukThey sell to many countries, including USA and Europe. OVH has the biggest datacenters in Europe. And you get to control everything yourself.I've used them for years! The dirt cheap servers are coming into stock in a few weeks, according to the support team. Would love a UK-based server.Edit: Found it.http://www.hotukdeal...a-month-1615371Now to cry tears of pain that I didn't know about this while they were available. Also further tears that I can't quite justify the 1TB one.Further edit:Apparently they're selling more at the end of September. Apparently they also take an age to provision (But really, who cares?) haggaret
Where are you guys finding a deal on backupsy that costs $7/mo? When I got to backupsy.com, for 500 GB of space, the cheapest I can find is $20/mo. What am I missing?

peterk
Yes - two things, encrypted remote storage for untrusted ( or partially trusted ) rental storage on third party servers with "write only access" from your private machines This seems like a non-trivial problem on how to prevent manipulations on 3rd party machines from messing with yours such that any changes on the 3rd party wioll not propagate and will be refreshed from one of your fully trusted machines upon next contact. This sort of hints at a way to enable small scale places like notary public businesses and other bonded services like accounting firms, estante lawyers, etc etc to offer such services for their clients. btsyncfof
Now that we've got Read-Only Encrypted secrets, any further ideas/updates on this? It would be a pretty compelling web service if it could accept a secret from you and just sync it and charge you per GB of storage, or something like that.
