Gavthirdphase
HI Guys, Im looking for a single bay NAS that is small and fast. I work on live events where its critical that i updates presentations and animations on several machines a quickly as possible. being able to plug a usb 3 drive. I like the look of Synology stuff. Dose the DS116 work with sync?
RomanZ
@Gavthirdphase It's specs says it is built on Armada 385 CPU, so technically should be working fine with Sync. Although, it was never tested in our labs, nor our users reported anything about DS116. Sorry - not too much info.
Jay Siquelus
@Gavthirdphase @RomanZ I bought a Synolgy DS116. I was able to install the package "bittorrentsync_armada38x_DSM6_2.3.7-1.spk". When I try to run the package I get the following notice "Failed to run tha package service". Need some help...
RomanZ
@Jay Siquelus Is your Admin account active? Sync won't be able to run with disabled admin account. If yes - let's try to SSH to NAS and run Sync manually - it should display some error on why binary does not start. After logging in under admin, run the following command line: /usr/local/bittorrentsync/bin/btsync --config /usr/local/bittorrentsync/var/sync.conf And let me know the output. Jay Siquelus
@RomanZ you were rigt, I had to activate Administrator rights. Now no problems anymore.
Joakim Westin
I use Resilio on my QNAP HS251+ with firmware 4.2.2 Build 20161102 As far as I have seen this works fine. Super simple way to keep my photos in sync without using cloud services
Hans
I run BTSync v2.3.7 on my Asustor AS-604T NAS (and that works fine). I don't mind changing to Resilio Sync BUT I need to be certain that automatic conversion from BTSync to Resilio Sync (app version is currently v2.4.4) is also supported on my Asustor NAS (as it is for several other brands). That was NOT the case two weeks ago. QUESTION: When will this automatic conversion for the Asustor NAS be available??
RomanZ
@Hans Unfortunately, automatic migration for Asustor NAS package is not planned. We can instruct you on manual migration if you want. That will require some basic Linux skills as it is done via SSH.

NOTE: I have the Asustor NAS (AS-604T), using the v2.3.7 app on the NAS, and I use BT Sync on 3 computers (installed as a service). Apart from the steps to take (and how), please tell me also about the order in which to do this (NAS first or...?). If you need any additional info, just let me know. Thanks! Helen
@Hans, You need to move files from old storage (volume1/.@plugins/AppCentral/bittorrent-sync/app/.sync) to new (/volume1/.@plugins/AppCentral/resilio-sync/app/.sync): 1) stop BitTorrent Sync. 2) ssh to your NAS, cd to old storage. 3) Take everything from there (don't forget about all .Sync#### subfolders). For example, you can add everything to a tar archive and move it somewhere away, or move the files to another directory. 5) Install Resilio Sync. Do not launch it. 6) go to new storage, delete everything from there. 7) move the files from step 3 here. Or un-tar the archive here. Start Resilio. If it asks to create identity, don't do that and restart Resilio-Sync once again.
Hans
Thanks @Helen , I'm going to work on this. One question at this stage: should I unlink the NAS from the LAN until I have also migrated to Resilio Sync on my three attached computers/laptops (as syncing is basically still active on those)?? Hans
Follow-up: it works! I have had to adjust some of the steps but in the end I got it to work. Also I migrated to Resilio Sync (automatically) on my desktop computers; NAS plus computers are now happily syncing.... Thanks for the help. tbo64
Hi, I have a DS416 Play and DSM 6. Downloaded and installed this package: resiliosync_braswell_2.4.4-1.spk When I try to start it I get this error message "fail on start repairing package synology". Tried to restart the NAS. Same... Any idea? Thank you,

N0b0dy
Does it run on one of these two NAS (just 1 bay)? WD My Cloud: WDBCTL0040HWT https://www.wdc.com/products/personal-cloud-storage/my-cloud.html Synology DS115j: https://www.synology.com/de-de/products/DS115j Thanks for your help! RomanZ
1-bay WD is not supported. Synology should work fine, though note that Sync running on low-profile devices will lose significant part of its performance if you attempt to sync lots of files. Just to confirm working with Lenovo EMC px6-300d - installation steps as follows: Access the device in your browser at <IP>/manage/diagnostics.html Check "Allow remote access for support (SSH and SFTP)" and assign a password, then apply changes In Terminal, access your device: ssh -l root -p 22 <IP> Type your password preceded by 'soho': soho<password> Access the directory opt/apps: cd opt/apps Download the applicable file for the px6-300d NAS: wget https://download-cdn.resilio.com/stable/linux-x64/resilio-sync_x64.tar.gz Once downloaded, open the downloaded file: tar -xzvf resilio-sync_x64.tar.gz Once installed, remove the downloaded file: rm resilio-sync_arm.tar.gz Access the config file: nano /etc/rc.local and place: (sleep 300; /opt/apps/rslsync) & before: exit 0 to save your changes press ctrl-x (to exit), 'y' (to confirm) and 'enter' (to execute). Reboot your NAS: reboot Once rebooted, re-access your device in Terminal as per the first few steps: ssh -l root -p 22 <IP> Type your password preceded by 'soho': soho<password> Access the directory opt/apps: cd opt/apps And run rslsync, listening on port 8888: ./rslsync --webui.listen 0.0.0.0:8888 You can then access the GUI via your web browser at <IP>:8888 I hope this helps someone - as a beginner with command line I had struggled piecing together the above instructions from the available resources. Also apologies if this doesn't fit within forum rules etc - first post. Rhys
Helen
Thank you @Rhys Thomas, much appreciated. I'd add that some might need to disable cert check when wget'ing (--no-check-certificate) or download from http (not https).
badzi0r
I have managed to run sync on Zyxel NAS540 (binary ARMHF) and on Slackware (binary x64). I also prefer binaries than deb, rpm packages for my Ubuntu and Red Hat.
