It seems the android app causes other peers to touch (unix touch) directories that are partially synced. In other words every time I start the droid app, the (c|m)time of directories that contain synced files (on the phone) changes on my linux server.

This confuses the heck out of my backup scripts..

Edit: This seems to be an isolated issue or not directly related to BTSync. ^^

great app, seems stable for an alpha.
one suggestion:
please, please, please, make tray icon optional. i hate such icons and i don't use apps that don't offer a way to disable them. and if there's really no other way, then at least allow making it transparent.

This! I'm pretty new to Android, so maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I haven't even added a folder yet and I can't figure out a way to get rid of the tray icon. Is this thing running in the background constantly?

It seems to be running until you select "Exit" from the menu in the application. I assume that they are running as high-priority service, which requires the display of a notification icon.

What I still need to test is if there'll be image backup if the application is not running (i.e. if the service is started/triggered by taking photos) or not.

I've already tested on OSX, windows, ubuntu, synology.

Found only some slowing in windows xp sp3...

I want to test it on Android.

Should be great to sync my SD card with my Synology server.

Really enjoying the android version just now. Selective sync is great, and looking forward to seeing it in the main builds too.

One point though - since the mobile builds are only compatible with version 1.1 of the main builds, why not also number them 1.1 instead of 1.0? It's slightly confusing that 1.0 on mobile is compatible with 1.1 windows/osx/linux builds, but not 1.0.

This can be done under the Android app settings. Have a look around, but you have the option to remove the notification icon from almost anything.

It'll still logically be there (IE: The app and OS will behave as if it's there) you just won't see it.

could you tell where exactly is this? i know my droid pretty well, but i hear this for the first time. by the way, i'm on ICS, HTC Sense.

On my Galaxy Nexus it never does an automated sync. Haven't noticed it do anything really except a partial sync after I installed it. I'm liking all these added things people are mentioning too.

When I press the "Exit" it closes then instantly reopens. Is that supposed to do that?

What happened today when I started up sync again after a few days off, is that it forgot that I had Camera Backup enabled, it wants me to setup it again. The backup itself still works, as the Camera folder is still listed as sync folder in the "Sync" tab.

Hey, the app doesnt run on Razr I. The app runs in the background but if i tried to open it the activity appears and before i can click anything and the activity disappears.

could you tell where exactly is this? i know my droid pretty well, but i hear this for the first time. by the way, i'm on ICS, HTC Sense.

Noticed a few things.

The medialibrary on the Android device is not updated. Removed pictures from a synced folder (not Camera backup) still display in the overview, but cannot be clicked on to view the larger image since the file is removed. A medialibrary update event after a deletion could prevent this.
The application seems to forget it´s device name sometimes. (May be mentioned before me)
Maybe put in a way to purge the .SyncTrash folder from the application.
Sync speeds slow down on wifi to a mere halt when screen is turned off. But I believe this is operation system related, just mentioning it.

Great to see Btsync on mobile!

as the battery consumption of btsync android app seems reasonable (well, i don't sync thousands of files with it, only a few now and then) i leave it running all the time. and of course i forget to start it when i reboot my device. so, i'd love to se option for btsync to start automatically.

This would be nice.

I use an automation program to start on boot, but it's a hack.

This is mainly concerned with file sync at the moment. Plus, there are generally so many ways to get contacts and calendar on/off Android/whatever else that more is superfluous.

If you can get it into a file though, you can sync it.

I cant generate a QR code on my pc, the button just doesn't respond, I've tried going to the advanced settings tab and using the "Connect mobile via QR code" option and that too does nothing. Linux client version 1.1.42

Just downloaded and installed 1.1.21 from the play store. Looks great, but I do have one question/problem:

I set up a shared folder of pictures, with automatic sync turned off and the phone set as a read-only sharer. This would be perfect for having access to things when on the road without carrying them all around. I picked one and it synced just fine. Then I deleted it off my phone and now I can't sync it again. It shows up on the "remote" tab with a bar underneath the entry, and which I pick it nothing happens. I picked another picture and it synced just fine, but any one I sync then delete I can't sync again.

Now, I can understand how with a normal btsync client in read-only mode, if you delete something locally that means "I don't want to hold on to a copy of this -- don't send it to me" which is fine. But for a mobile device I think it should be different -- particularly if I specifically ASK for another copy to be downloaded (ie, I pick it), which it seems I can't do.

I'd say this is a bug, and a definite usability issue. I tried deleting the .SyncIgnore file (while btsync was not running!), and it didn't make any difference.
